Town boss Russell Slade spoke exclusively to Grimsby Town's official website about the 1-0 defeat to United that sees the Mariners slip six points behind the Blues in the race for the League Two title :

"We played good football at times and can take a lot of plusses out of the game. I'm disappointed more than anything with the goal we conceded. Marc Goodfellow had our two best chances and was probably a bit unlucky. But we know Bridges is a good executioner and he punished us severely.

"The most disappointing part of the game was the goal that we conceded. I think we had a warning two minutes earlier. We kept a flat back four line, and Bridges is too cute for that sort of thing when there is not enough pressure on the ball. You've got to say it was a lapse of concentration.

"In terms of performance, I think there was some good things today. We had some good periods of possession. Perhaps we didn't get enough balls into the box. We did get the ball into the box once or twice, when the goalkeeper flapped, we could have got a goal or two.

"On another day we might well have scored. Our balls kept getting blocked or we wasted the opportunity to get that ball in early. If we continue to perform and perhaps go a little bit better that today in the final third, we will be okay.

"We've got a very, very big weekend ahead of us next weekend. There is six points up for grabs and we are going to get as many of them as we can, if not all of them"
