Blues boss Greg Abbott
United boss Greg Abbott (GA) spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Andy Wood (AW) after Carlisle's 1-1 draw at Plymouth, Abbott agreeing that Argyle's equaliser four minutes into injury time was a killer :

AW

What a killer?

GA

Yeah, it is a killer, it doesn't help that it is about a seven and a half hour journey. But, is it a killer? It is on the day but the bigger picture is we are alright, as a team we are happy with the way we are trying to play the game and the type of football we have played.

We have got a standing ovation again from our 300 to 400 fans, brilliant, we have come a long way and it is great that we haven't disappointed them. We are all disappointed but we can live with that, it is our jobs and I will take all that.

But, in terms of did they deserve to get that last gasp goal? Probably not I would think, but a lot of credits and a lot of plaudits to the players again who have been magnificent for me again. We are just hoping we can maintain the type of form and determination we have got at the minute, and we can kick on from here.

AW

There won't be many teams come here and get anything so that is now Plymouth, one of the favourites, and Huddersfield one of the favourites, that you have played in the space of five days. So, now looking at that where do you put Carlisle in this sort of play-off area?

GA

No, I don't put us anywhere, I mean I wondered how long it would be before that sort of stuff would be talked about. We just have to keep playing, keep doing what we are doing, playing the type of football and producing the type of performances we are at the minute and then see where we are going.

In 20-25 games we will have a good idea of what we are going to try to achieve, and we will be round-about the areas that we need to be and if we are on the heels of the chasing pack we would be loving it that we could maybe do something better. But, we are really pleased with the start to the season, the pre-season and the first couple of games.

AW

And you are wanting to up attendances of course, you were saying in the summer back at Brunton Park by playing attractive football. Do you think it is going in the right direction for you?

GA

Well, you have seen it today for yourselves, I think it is OK, up here you sometimes get a better picture. But, we certainly popped it around lovely again today and probably out-passed Plymouth.

Their best sort of chances were the bullying tactics when they launched the ball into the box and told us to defend and be brave, and to be fair we did that most of the game. Just one break, a goal has gone their way and they get their point out of it.

AW

I notice you got the guys in a huddle at the end there, what did you say to them when you got them all in?

GA

Well, I am not having disappointment, we are all together, I am hurting more than anybody, and we all hurt together and we said that. We will take this on the chin, we have got to be dignified and we have got to be brave. We are all together, we all accepted it, I don't want anybody kicking things in the changing-rooms and that.

We are all upset, don't get me wrong, and that is what we told the players. They are OK with that and we wanted to go all together to the fans because this is a monumental round trip and I thought they deserved everybody all together to go across to them and thank them for their support.

AW

On the confidence side of things, generally is that one point gained or two dropped in your opinion?

GA

Well, I mean looking at the game it is two points dropped, and the situation. But, listen, if you probably said at the start that we would take four points from the first two games then would you be OK? We probably would be but we are absolutely devastated we haven't got six out of six and are looking forward to the MK Dons next week.

AW

Another difficult one that one for you?

GA

Yeah, they are all difficult, there is no question that they are all difficult. But, we are just going to keep trying to play the type of football we have shown in the last three or four games and try to get those results that will breed confidence and breed optimism throughout the town. At the minute we are looking forward to the game next week with a belief that we can get something out of it.
