Blues boss Greg Abbott
United boss Greg Abbott spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips at Thursday's open press conference for the local media, Abbott talking about a reasonable run of form for the Cumbrians recently :

" We are on a four wins and a draw and a defeat in our last six games, that is a platform to build on. We are not saying we are having a good season, we are not saying we are having a bad season. What we are saying at the minute is that we have got another situation where a run of good results will give everybody encouragement and everybody an optimism to look forward to a good season with some exciting games to come.

" What we have got to try to do is get through this Saturday's game with another positive result and then that can continue. I want it to continue long and for us as long as we can to make sure that the supporters and the club have got some excitement and some optimism and some really big games to look forward to.

" Richard Offiong will get a bit more pitch time but at the minute I am happy with what we are doing and happy with the way things are going. There are definitely options now and when I decide that the right time to use those options is then that is when I will do it.

" Vincent Pericard has brought us two goals already, he has brought us strength, he has brought us a base to play off. When the ball goes into him more often than not it fits. He occupies a lot of defenders, he pulls people towards him and then creates space for others. Which at the minute we are exploiting because we have got goals from all around him, and he has got a very astute football brain.

" It is a funny time to be critical when we have just spent the last six games which Vincent has been part of and we have won four of them and drawn one and lost one. So I think at the minute it seems a strange question for me to be answering when the run of form we have had with Vincent in the team, and Adam (Clayton) has come in and been terrific. I am finding it hard to understand where these questions do actually arise from to be honest but I will continue playing them as I see fit. "

" Certainly Vincent since I have been here, he has had a good run of games and a good run of form and the results have been excellent. Adam as well, Adam has come in and he scored his goal against Chesterfield and I thought he was outstanding. He found life a little bit harder the other night, so did Tom Taiwo who was absolutely outstanding at Bristol Rovers. So I really do think that I am not sure where the questions are coming from to be honest.

" He (Andy Cook) had his spell at Barrow and scored his goals. He has come back and the key to Andy is the four strikers we have got we think are ahead of him at the minute. The reserve game that we had was of no tempo and was of no significance so that is the reason we sent him back to Barrow. Unfortunately now he has got a crack in his foot which will just halt him for four or five weeks. So as soon as he gets back then he gets back on the ladder again.

" But obviously an injury to anybody is a problem and it just stops him progressing like he was, he was doing ever so well. We will have to look at his loan situation because in four or five weeks our situation might change with us. We might have players scoring loads of goals and we might have players scoring no goals, we might have players injured or losing form. So we will have a look at that situation when he is fit again.

" Ryan Bowman is a youth team player, he is 17-years old, there is no absolutely no question that we will be letting Ryan Bowman go anywhere at the minute. It is ridiculous we are even talking about sending youth team players out on loan. He is 17-years old, some of the others, the 19 or 20-year olds, the likes of Michael Burns and Gavin Rothery and Conor Tinnion and Jonny Blake, maybe they could do with some better real football.

" But certainly the kids, they are just starting off, they have not even established themselves as professional players yet. The last thing they need to be doing is going away from here, we need to have them here looking after them and doing the right things, getting them the right encouragement. We don't need to be talking about sending them anywhere just at the minute. "
