Blues boss Greg Abbott
United boss Greg Abbott spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey at Thursday morning's open press conference for the local media ahead of Carlisle's away game at Leicester on Saturday, Abbott first giving an update on the latest injury news regarding recent signing Ian Harte :

" He is definitely ruled out for this Saturday, definitely ruled out for the Easter weekend, they are going to X-ray it again. Hopefully then the crack will be mended and sufficiently binded to allow him to have a lightweight cast on that might enable him to play the following Saturday, that will be the Swindon game. So that is where we stand with that, so not great news, not the disaster that it is an operation and he is out for the whole season but not brilliant news that we are going to miss him for three games minimum. Then there is no guarantee that he will be fit after that either.

" It is not great news is it, it is amazing how teams have curses of certain positions. It is the curse of the centre-half at the minute, everybody we seem to get gets injured. Murph (Peter Murphy) is back in training though so that is good news on the good side of that that Murph is back. He trained on Tuesday and he was stiff on Wednesday but he is going to train again today, so we are going to have a look at him.

" Ideally he probably could do another with week but we haven't got an ideal world at the moment have we. The centre-halves are a problem so it looks like we are going to have to try to make a decision on Peter today or tomorrow. Tony Kane at right-back, we have got a couple of options, they are not ideal options at the moment. That leaves us with a very, very young inexperienced back four, so at this stage of the season it is probably what you wouldn't want to do, but it is something that if we have to do then we will do it, and we see how we get on with it.

" We are hopeful though that Murph can be patched up and we can throw him out there, but we won't do that with a risk of him doing any damage. It is not an ideal scenario but in adversity, sometimes these things happen and young players come in and they do alright. It is something that has not arisen yet though, we have to have a look at it today and tomorrow, then we will make decisions after that. "

" It is not that Yeovil's result on Tuesday didn't matter but it is one that you are not sure what you want. It puts Northampton right in the mire now doesn't it, it gives Yeovil a bit of breathing space, but quickly if Northampton won and Yeovil lost, Northampton are back in with a good shout and Yeovil are back in the mire.

" So it is going to go weekend to weekend I think at the minute, so there was no great scenario, if they had drawn then they would have both been still in the mire, but it is another one that is in deep trouble. It is not that it doesn't matter it is just that there was no perfect scenario or result out of that one, but we just get on with it.

" We have talked about doing it ourselves, mathematically, it might be down to the last game of the season, then it is and you are waiting for the results. At the minute we know that if we win three games then we are going to be OK and the same with the other clubs that are in trouble. So whilst that is still the case we have got some good games to look forward to, I think that Saturday is a great game to look forward to to be honest with you.

" The pressure is almost on them (Leicester), it is on us in a different way but it is almost on them because everybody expects them to get a result. There are 20 people though that don't expect them, and possibly our fans, don't expect them to get a result because we are going to go there and have a right good go at it. "

" We had this same scenario last season when we were looking for points to get us over the line and you know how difficult it can be. So if we can keep the game tight, cause them problems and frustrate them and get the crowd on their back. You have seen how difficult that can sometimes be, so that will be something that enters our gameplan.

" When you talk about injury problems I have to think and long hard to see who is actually fit and who is not fit at the minute. It looks like we are alright, obviously Chris (Howarth) got his broken leg on Monday in the reserve game so that is another one. It leaves us without an experienced goalkeeper but that is something that we could address possibly if that situation arose where Ben (Williams) got an injury.

" Apart from that, we have got, not a full quota, but we have got a group left to select from and we will select from them and hopefully we can get the right selection. With the goalkeeper in mind we have got young Alex (Mitchell) who can cover that situation and then if we think that we need to do one then we would. It is not probably the right time to put Alex in the picture, so we will look at that, that has been addressed, there have been a few phone calls been made just incase anything happens to Ben, so we should be OK with that.

" We have got six games to retain our League One status and that is the most important thing on my mind at the moment. The supporters have gone with optimism before and they have been encouraged by our away form, so there is no reason why we can't go to Leicester and enjoy the day and cause Leicester problems.

" I hope that for the supporters, who have been terrific on the road, Southend apart, in the last few weeks, that they have something to shout for yet again. Like we keep repeating on the road, they are League champions already, they are League One champions are our supporters away from home. They have been sensational, nothing short of this season and last season, so we need more of that. "
