Eric Kinder
United Head of Youth Eric Kinder and Barrow Director Tony Keen spoke together on BBC Radio Cumbria this afternoon about their plans to bring the two clubs closer together, Kinder commenting :

" I think that Carlisle United as a club, we need a Conference team in our area because we really should, and I know that I have talked to Greg (Abbott) about it. We really need to get together because you can possibly help our younger players, you know our 18 and 19 and 20-year olds who are just not quite ready to get in the first-team, but need a good level of football.

" We sent (Andy) Cook out to Workington last year and he ended up scoring five goals in eleven games. Probably Darren (Edmondson) won't like me saying this but he probably now needs another test. Now I am not convinced that he is ready for the Conference yet but it would be interesting to see how he comes back in pre-season.

" I would like to, obviously I have talked to Greg about this and he is in full agreement that we could do with getting together and seeing how we could help one and other. Because we need you to stay in the Conference and that can only help us as well if we have young players that need that level of football. Let's get them to you and push them on a little bit faster and if it helps you along the way then that is fantastic.

" When I speak to the manager next I will mention this conversation and we will see what we can do in pre-season. I will either get hold of yourself or speak to Dave (Bayliss) and see if we can get together one afternoon and see how we can help one and other. "
