United assistant manager Dennis Booth spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips after Carlisle's 2-1 defeat at home to Stockport, Booth suggesting that the United players were a little bit naïve after grabbing a second-half equaliser :

" We're all upset because we don't like losing football games, as simple as that. When we equalised you were thinking that we could go on then and win the game, or certainly not lose it. I think that we were a little bit naïve in the way that we defended the second goal. Although the players down there say that when the ball came back off him the boy has stopped it with his hand and then poked it back in, but that is gone by and there is nothing that we can do about that.

" We are disappointed though, we get back in the game, we got off to a poor start, we started the game very well and then I think the first thing that Ben Williams had to do was pick the ball out of the net. It looked like a deflection or it scooped up or something, I don't know, and dropped in, so we were on the back foot then.

" We had a couple of opportunities to come in at half-time level but we said at half-time that we were still in with a chance if we could get at them and put them on the back foot a little bit and put them under pressure. We got the goal and I thought that we would go on and get something out of the game but we conceded a poor goal from our point of view.

" There was a lot happened for both of their goals really, Richard (Keogh) has gone in there but the boy (Dominic Blizzard) has still gone on and he has got a shot in from about 25 yards. I don't know whether it was the wind or it looped but it dropped in over Ben, you can't blame him for that. You can look back on all goals really and say that was wrong, I am sure that they could find something wrong with our goal.

" I think that we were a little bit naïve though, we got back in the game and I am a big believer that if you can't win the game then you make sure that you don't lose it. Even though it is a point you take that, but we chased it a little bit and got a little bit ragged, especially near the end which happens. When we got back to 1-1 though I think that we have got to be a little bit more composed and go about it in a bit better way. "

" They got in a couple of times too easily, one from our throw-in right down in the corner, which should never happen, when it was 1-1 and we got away with that, Ben made another good save. So it was there, you have still got to defend right and be solid and you can't go chasing things and throwing yourselves forward stupidly, although you do want to win the game.

" The one where the lad (Tommy Rowe) trod on it is the one that I am annoyed about, the throw-in right over on the far side. Our throw-in and it ends up with them coming all the way down and ends up where the boy should score. We have got to be more solid than that, when we have got throw-ins you have got to be concentrating even though it is our throw-in, you still have to concentrate.

" I am a big believer in when I have played before, as one of my old managers used to say, when you are attacking be very careful of what you leave. Don't be chasing things, don't get too many people past the ball and get caught and get mugged. I think that today we have been mugged a little bit, and credit to them, they finished the goals off well.

" We are disappointed though, the thing is that we go to Brighton and put in a performance like that and get the three points. Then we come back home and we are a little bit worried that we are inconsistent, win one, lose one, draw one, up and down. We have got to get a bit more consistency in our performances and go on five, six, seven, eight games unbeaten and put together a run like that. Which at the moment we are getting up there and we are back down to earth again this afternoon at home, which you want to win your home games and put on a performance for your fans.

" If you look at the game overall possession-wise, I know that it doesn't mean anything but we did have a lot of the ball and good opportunities. You have got to give credit to Stockport though, they got the win, they did create some problems for us. They are a strong side and well organised, but when you get off to a start like that, after about, I don't know how long it was, it puts you right on the back foot and the confidence goes a little bit. "

" I was quite pleased with the way that we hung in there and we thought that at half-time we were in with a chance, which I think everybody believed when we scored the goal, that we could possibly go on and get something out of the game. We haven't though and it has gone by now, we have got to look forward to Peterborough. It is a cracking game to go to, I am pleased that we are going to somewhere like that. There shouldn't be any motivation needed, they are a top side, they have got some good players and we have got to go there and put our stall out and get something out of the game.

" We thought that we were doing OK and sometimes people, because you have got the choice of three substitutes from five, people tend to overuse them. It can throw you, and as you saw right at the end, we got ragged, you put people on and it can alter the shape. So we thought that we were doing reasonably well and we were getting opportunities, but then obviously when you go 2-1 down then you do look to make changes. Sometimes though if you are doing OK then it can stop the rhythm, but hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it.

" We have got to pick ourselves up now, we have got a game on Tuesday night at Peterborough, we can't alter that, we can't change it. When you lose a game though, and particularly at home, you want another one to come quickly and we are certainly going to have that opportunity. We are not going to have to wait a week to play again, we can get out there and get it out of our system against a good side.

" They are a good side but we have proved here against them, they scored two goals late on, we are a match for anybody on our day but we have got to stop and cut out these little silly mistakes and maybe concentrate a little bit better. Because they punish you in football, football doesn't change, if you make mistakes and you don't defend properly then you get punished and we have been punished today.

" Chris (Howarth) has got a thigh strain, he couldn't kick the ball so if Chris had sat on the bench and has to come on then it puts you under massive pressure anyway with him. Maybe his mobility might not have been as good as well so we didn't have any option on that. "
