United chief executive David Allen spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Paul Newton after Carlisle's 2-0 win at home to Millwall, Allen talking about events both on and off the pitch this season :

" Just relief at the moment, it is, it is absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere down here was absolutely amazing so just relief now and lots of champagne in the changing rooms. It was torture today to be honest, it was absolute torture, very, very tense, especially the way that the last few games have gone down here where we have gone one up at the start and we have lost it all in the last couple of minutes. You just worry that something is going to go wrong like that, so very, very tense but absolutely magical now.

" We were kept updated with the other scores, so we knew what was going on elsewhere. Leeds went one up quite quickly, we expected Leeds winning anyway. We certainly weren't confident of this outcome this afternoon, it has been very, very disappointing this last season. It just wasn't the way that we expected it to go and obviously we have got to learn a lot of lessons from that.

" We don't know all the answers but injuries are a big part of it. I know that sport is not about luck but the way that the results went, it just seems that there is a little bit of that. We can't blame UFOs or the Hand of God or anything this time, with the squad that we have got we deserve to play in this league. We are always looking at things to explain this season.

" The fans deserve answers and today they were absolutely brilliant, the atmosphere down here and the fans are right behind the players, so it is great to see that. The biggest thing this season has been the injuries, we have had a lot of players out and that definitely has been the biggest thing, they are an upset to the team are injuries and that is definitely a big factor.

" Greg (Abbott) has just come up to me and shaken my hand here. He is smiling and he is like the cat that has got the cream at the moment. We want to be looking to improve everything at the club within what we can do realistically, we will look at everything. There hasn't been complacency at the club, a lot of things have been going absolutely brilliantly down at the club, the camaraderie here is absolutely brilliant, the atmosphere in the club is brilliant. Lots of things have gone wrong on the pitch and we just need to get the bottom of that. "

" The club's financial position is not as good as we hoped that it would be at the end of the season, caused by our league position, the recession. Lots of football clubs are in a very, very difficult position at the moment and we will see a lot going on this summer. I don't think that anybody has ever mentioned administration to me. We are going along and what we don't have is a few million pounds in the bank that we could do with, but the club certainly isn't close to administration.

" The very, very valuable lesson to learn is just what I said when we came on board a year ago, it has got to be run in a business-like manner. It is not all about throwing money at the job, it is about trying to manage it as best we can. We are here, we are just looking after this club as custodians and doing the best that we can. We have said all the time that if want people want to come along and do something for the club, by all means come along and do it, and we will just do what we can in the meantime.

" What we have got is the business acumen to manage this club in the best way that we can do it. We are just four local people who want the best for this club and we are doing the best that we can. I have said right from the very, very start, it is not all about throwing a load of money at something, we have seen what happened north of the border at Gretna. When somebody just throws a load of money at something you end up spoiling it, it is about keeping it right and building a sustainable club and doing the best that you can within realistic means, and that is what we are going to do.

" We are going do the best we can during the summer, I am sure that there will be a few players going and one or two players coming, just what you would expect at a football club. We have certainly got some good players here now, we need to be securing them for the future and just looking forward to next season now. The champagne has already been cracked open in the changing rooms and the players are just really enjoying it, there will be a few drinks around town and we are just going to enjoy a really good time.

" To the supporters, any of them that were here and thoroughly enjoyed it, the atmosphere was magical. A big thank you to all the fans who were here, to all the fans who listened on the radio at home who couldn't make it, and all the support and best wishes that we have had, it is just absolutely magical. Come and join in and be part of it, I am sure that season ticket holders, I know that they have had a lot of disappointment, it is still good value for money though so just come along and enjoy it. "
