New United loan signing Darryl Duffy spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Paul Newton this evening after joining the Cumbrians earlier in the week from Bristol Rovers until the end of the season, Duffy first looking back at Carlisle's 2-1 defeat at Colchester on Tuesday night :

"Their last minute winner was totally frustrating because anyone who was there and saw the state of the pitch will know that it was a terrible game to play football on. We went there and gave it everything, worked really hard and ended up with nothing out of it when we certainly deserved at least a point.

"We should have had a penalty, that was a great chance for us to go 2-0 up and there might not have been a way back for Coichester after that. So with the offside goal it was two big decisions that went against us away from home.

"It was a bit unusual for me on Tuesday going straight into the team having not trained at all. It was a bit of a different experience but football speaks for itself so it was enjoyable and I enjoyed it.

"I think I can play on my own upfront, I am not the biggest of centre-forwards, I am certainly not a target man but I think I can hold my own if play upfront on my own. I have done that role at other clubs, obviously I prefer playing with a strike partner but if I have to do the lone one upfront then it is not something that bothers me. "

"Joe (Anyinsah) is obviously injured, he did take part a little bit today but it is difficult with a Friday training session as you don't want to do too much. But there are a lot of strikers at the club and a lot of competition so that can only be a good thing for the whole club.

"It only took six hours for the move to be completed, I think it was about 11am on Monday was the first time I heard about it. Obviously the window was due to shut at 5pm so that didn't leave a lot of time at all. So it was mostly done over the phone between myself and the manager (Greg Abbott) and it got done rather quickly to make sure that we made it in time for the deadline.

"I have no idea about my future here or at Bristol Rovers, it came round so quickly and so out of the blue. I was in actually preparing for training for Bristol Rovers and they told me to think about it through Monday's training session, which isn't the best. But I don't know, I am aware that it is just a loan move at the minute, there is nothing permanent in it.

"It is just something that we will need to get discussed at the end of the season. I have got another year after this one at Bristol Rovers so there is a bit of talking would need to be done between now and the end of the season if there was anything permanent to be done. "

"If everything worked out well for both parties then I would like to think they would want me and a permanent move would be that simple. But I have got to do well and prove that I am good enough to play for Carlisle, if it turns out to be a fruitful loan spell then it would definitely be something I would like to consider.

"Being nearer Scotland would be something but it is never something that is going to stop me from moving. Obviously I have played with Swansea and Bristol Rovers and they are not exactly northern clubs so it is not something that puts me off is playing further down south.

"But obviously getting closer to Glasgow, you are just an hour in the car really and that would be something that would interest both me and my wife. I know that Scott Dobie has got caps for Scotland but I think I would be the only Scot in at Carlisle now.

"I only know Matty Robson here at the moment from my loan spell at Hartlepool, obviously I was at Hartlepool for two months when Matty was there and he is the only one that is familiar to me in the changing room. But they are a great bunch of lads here, I have fitted in really well and everybody is really welcoming.

"I have just signed up for two tough away trips in Coichester and Huddersfield. Obviously it was Coichester on Tuesday and then Huddersfield haven't lost in the league all season at home. So it is a massive game for us but we are confident that if we go there and everybody plays to the best of their ability that we have got a chance of coming away with something."
