Hartlepool boss Danny Wilson spoke to BBC Radio Tees about his side's 1-0 win at Brunton Park on Tuesday night, Wilson suggesting that his players did a great job of sticking to their gameplan throughout the 90 minutes :

" Our bad run was just one of those things that happens, they had been punished for every small mistake that they had made. In that respect you think that it has got to turn in our favour soon if we keep working hard and keep doing the things that we know are correct then it will turn round. Thankfully it has done that in the last couple of games, nothing taken for granted, we have still got to keep working at it and we will do until the last game of the season.

" Tonight though you saw the hard work that the lads have put in, it was terrific. It was great, great defensive work, I'm not saying that we were under great pressure all the time but what they did, they did very, very well. It was always going to be a case of quietening the home fans, the first goal, as we have said many, many times, was important. I think that if a team is on a run as Carlisle have been then I think that the fans can either help your or they can hinder you.

" It gave us a little bit of impetus today really because when we got that goal they started to vent a few of their frustrations, which doesn't help the players quite honestly. That is not my problem though, our problem is ourselves. We have got a great boost in confidence again, if we hadn't had it already, but we have certainly got it now.

" It was a great finish for the goal, that is what the kid (James Brown) can do. That was possibly one of our best moves of the game when we got the ball down. We went to a certain way to start the game because obviously we thought that perhaps they would be a little bit fragile early and that if we could get an early goal then it might unsettle them. Then we started softening them up a little bit, setting them a few longer balls in there. Then when we got the ball down and played a few little passes like you saw we did then that is where we got the goal from.

" He (Arran Lee-Barrett) made one outstanding save and I think that was probably the only slip that our lads had today, that one was a little bit of a hiccup. Two weeks ago we would have been punished but thankfully Arran again came to our rescue, a fantastic save. They will look at it as a missed chance, we will look at it as a great save.

" It's always likely that we could have got more goals on the break with what we have got in the team and the way that they are pushing forward. They had got six people upfront at the end and they are going to get caught, it's just that at the end their keeper (Ben Alnwick) has pulled off a terrific save I have to say from I think it was Matty (Robson). He has gone through again just after that, James Brown has gone through, Joel (Porter) went through in the first-half. So we have had our chances but only one goal tonight to show for it, but that has been enough.

" Looking back now that we have got three points then it was a good time to come to Carlisle. It is never an easy place to come here though, I think that the way that the lads have set about the gameplan tonight, and they have stuck to everything that we have asked them to do, it has been fantastic. Promotion is a long way down the line, that would be nice, you've got to start somewhere but we will see. "
