Danny Carlton
United striker Danny Carlton spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Tuesday morning as he talked about making his first league start for the Blues in the 2-2 draw at Brighton on Saturday, Carlton also chatting about how well his old club Morecambe are doing :

" It was unexpected but a debut is a debut and a good hard game to come into. The result was a little bit harsh on ourselves but it was a good debut for me. Before the game they (Brighton) had lost one in fourteen at home, we've gone down there and battled away. We've gone 2-1 up and they've gone down to ten men, we've been unfortunate to, not throw the game away, but concede a late goal. In the changing rooms before the game you'd take a draw but it was a like a loss after the game. All the lads were disappointed that we couldn't hold out.

" I've just got my head down and got on with it. I work hard in training and work hard in reserve games that I play in. It is a little bit of a reward for the hard work for me, unfortunately for Danny Graham he has done exceptionally well I think. He's not been firing on all cylinders lately so I got thrown in there and I think I did OK, I hope I did enough. I hope I worked hard, I didn't score but I worked hard for the team. I contributed a lot for the team so hopefully it was enough to get another start on Tuesday night.

" It is frustrating not to have another game now, you build up to it, your adrenaline starts pumping when you get to Friday and you want to be in playing on Saturday. Everyone is the same though, last week I was playing and Danny Graham wasn't, who knows this week? The gaffer (John Ward), it's up to him what team he chooses, he'll put out his best team that he thinks is the strongest one for the game. You've just got to work hard in training no matter whether you are playing or not, you never know, and when you get in there you've got to take your chance and work hard.

" I speak to a few of the lads at Morecambe and I look out for their results because I was there since I was 16-years old. I always look and see how they are doing and they are doing well, they are in the semi-finals of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, they might get another day out at Wembley. They are doing well in the league, I hope that they stay in there and establish themselves as a Football League club.

" I've supported Leeds since I was a kid because of my Dad and it was a great privilege to play against them. I never thought that I was going to come on and then with two minutes to go I came on. I was very chuffed because my family was here and they were happy for me. Bridgey (Marc Bridge-Wilkinson) robbed my goal but apart from that, I touched it didn't I but he still isn't giving it to me no matter how much I go on about it. It was a good day all-round and it was a great result for the lads. "
