Blues goalscorer Cleveland Taylor
United winger Cleveland Taylor spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey this evening after Carlisle's 2-1 home win over Southend, Taylor chatting about scoring his first goal in United colours :

" I'm smiling here and it is great to get that first goal, but the main thing is that we got the three points. It was a tough start and they came here with a game-plan, they have come on the back of a few bad results so they were always going to dig in there. Then they got that first goal which was a bit disappointing and it was an uphill struggle for us.

" It's a great test of character, we know how to make things hard for ourselves, but if we hadn't done that then we would probably be cruising through. It's one of those things though, it was a great finish, there was nothing that we could do about it but just get on with it.

" I didn't have a celebration planned because you don't know when that goal is going to come. Danny Graham squared it though and I couldn't really believe my luck because I thought that he wasn't going to pass it to me, just my luck. He has though and there was nothing more that I could do but just hit the target and it's a goal really.

" I was just ecstatic, it has been up and down since I have come here but things are starting to look up now. The main thing is that we got three points and I was just really chuffed with the team to take three points after a tough start.

" It hasn't been a bad afternoon but there were some other great performances out there other than myself. I think that there are players who go unnoticed out there, Paul Thirlwell and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson have done a great job in the middle of the park. People will say about Danny Graham, (Danny) Carlton, myself, (Simon) Hackney, we are the exciting ones but they are the ones that do a job for the team and help us to get those three points.

" Scunthorpe is another game, obviously it has got reasons for me but I'm sure that the gaffer (John Ward) and Greg (Abbott) won't let me think about that. It is just another game and I have got to keep improving and do my best to keep myself in the team. There was not much to be said at half-time really today, the goal was probably their first shot and attack and it went in.

" It was a bit of a shock going in but he (Ward) just said that we were going to have to dig deep like we have been doing and really show some determination and guts out there, which we went out and did. From back to front we had to dig in today and there are other people that come unsung. They did their jobs today, a we will not be beaten attitude, and those players stood up. "
