Carlisle winger Cleveland Taylor
United's newest player Cleveland Taylor spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria on Friday evening ahead of Carlisle's home game with promotion rivals Walsall tomorrow, Taylor, signed from Scunthorpe United yesterday, looking forward to a new challenge :

" I'm relieved to have finally signed, it's been going on a long time and I just want to get on the pitch and get playing. I couldn't really tell you myself why it has taken so long, obviously it was a deal between the two clubs and they both wanted to get the best deal possible really, so obviously the player just has to wait until he is told he can go.

" I began playing this season and then I was out of favour, they did offer me a deal but I thought that it wasn't right to sign a new deal if I wasn't playing, so that was it really as obviously you need to be playing games. I heard Carlisle were interested at the beginning of January really, I was told that Carlisle were interested and I was asked if I would be interested, and obviously my answer was yes.

" There was a bit of interest from other clubs but Carlisle were the most interested and I was happy for that. The main thing is to be playing regularly, when you have got that contract you can just concentrate on playing football. People expect a lot but hopefully I can bring that balance to the team, well hopefully as they've not being too badly without a right-winger because they are in the top six, so I'm sure it will be OK.

" The keepers seem to save all my shots and let Billy Sharp's in, but that was just the way it was going for me last season. We need to get shots on goal, we need to attack with purpose and put teams under pressure. I know Danny Livesey, Jeff Smith and Chris Howarth from Bolton so it is good to know a few familiar faces.

" The Oldham game was just one of those days really, the lads worked hard and battled hard but it was just one of those days, everybody loses football games now and again, it's how we react tomorrow. Moving up here isn't a problem, it was said that it might be a problem in me wanting to move up here but that is not a problem, I'm sure that will be sorted very soon.

" He (Joe Garner) reminds me a lot of Billy Sharp, a very, very good young player with great feet and a great eye for goal. He is attracting a lot of attention but as long as he keeps playing well and scoring goals then it shouldn't be a problem. The youth team doing well is great for the club, it shows that the club is going in the right direction and the future is bright for the club. What they are doing is great and it pushes everybody on around the place. I haven't been playing lately but I'm excited and I just want to get out there and I'm raring to go. "
