United midfielder Chris Lumsdon spoke exclusively to BBC Radio Cumbria on Saturday evening as he talked about the disappointing home defeat to table-toppers Wycombe :

" Absolutely gutted. We had a good spell in the second half where we had to score but it wasn’t to be and they went up the other end and nicked one.

" We felt that at any time in the second half, even after they’d scored, that we might nick one but there was a 20 minute spell in that second half where we were peppering their goal. If we’d have scored then I think we would have gone on and on but it wasn’t to be and you always knew they were good on the attack and so it proved to be.

" I didn’t know what to do with my half-chance. I didn’t know whether to take a touch or just hit it so I just thought I’d hit it and it didn’t hit the target. Fred (Story) joked it was my fault that we lost which was nice of him.

" We have to play exactly that way against the lower teams as well and we’ll be alright. It wasn’t a case of us raising our game just for them being top today, we’ve been making sure we take every game as it comes because we just want to get to that safety points total first and then kick on from there. It was a good game, it was good to match them.

" The ten day gap to the next game isn’t a good thing, everyone just wants to be playing all the time. We might get a few more running sessions now so that’s not nice.

" I’m glad the crowd seemed to enjoy it as well. It was a good crowd and they turned out, they were right behind us all the way. They got us going and we got them going so it was a good day all round apart from the result. "
