With Albion boss Micky Adams not coming out to speak to the media, assistant manager Dean White was left to comment to BBC Southern Counties Radio on his side's 2-0 defeat at the Withdean Stadium against Carlisle today, White bemoaning the defending on both United goals :

" I can't argue with that game, we are very disappointed with the result. We conceded two goals from two set-pieces and it is a hard pill to take when you do that because we have worked on dealing with that. Individual errors have cost us defensively, having said that we have had enough chances to have scored a few goals in the game and we haven't taken them, but we need to keep clean sheets and deal with set-pieces.

" I think that it is more of the same, we can't argue with the fact that we have conceded two goals from set-pieces but you defend as a team and you attack as a team. Set-pieces, you will probably find that nine of your outfield players are back and people have got to do their jobs. Those people who didn't do their jobs are in no doubt that we are not happy.

" We took Adam Hinshelwood off tactically, we just wanted to change it and we changed it and did a lot better in the second-half but at 2-0 down we gave ourselves a mountain to climb. The missed chances tend to conspire against you when things aren't going.

" On another day Seb Carole's shot hits the underside of the bar and goes in, or obviously Fozzy (Nicky Forster) goes through and scores his 200th league goal and everyone is happy. It wasn't to be though, it is disappointing for them and for us, and I am sure the supporters, we have got to dust ourselves down and get on with it though. "

" We sent them out there after half-time but they were doing OK in the first-half, we created chances in the first-half. Fozzy had a couple of chances but we didn't score and then we paid the price for not defending from set-pieces. It sort of took the stuffing out of the lads a bit until half-time then we talked to them and told them what we wanted in the second-half, and they came out and gave it a go, but unfortunately it wasn't enough.

" We definitely need to pick up the home form, our away form is decent but we need to start picking up some wins at home. I am not going to hide behind anything, it is a fact and we need to do that. It is difficult to work it out, we come out there and it is alright looking at the place, and it is not a particularly good place to play at home but it is our patch.

" At times over the years it has been a fortress but we have just got to get on with it and the players are a lot more confident playing away from home. It is something that we have spoken about, we have worked on, we have given them a basic plan and to be fair we have created chances at home. On another day the chances go in, we are in the lead and it is a different game, goals change games and unfortunately we didn't defend very well.

" The game at Luton on Tuesday is a different thing and obviously we are going up there and looking to get to Wembley, which is a real bonus for the club and for us, and the supporters and the players. We will be looking to do that but ultimately our league form, we need to improve that, especially at home. Obviously the lads on the bench who where there or thereabouts today will play due to cup-tied players. They should come into contention but tomorrow we will sit down and we will talk about the team. "
