United media officer and first team kitman Andy Hall spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips ahead of Carlisle's League One match at home to Brighton, Hall first talking about the loan signing this week of Manchester United midfielder Oliver Norwood :

" Oliver Norwood is a bit nervous, I will be honest with you, but I think you need that, you need the nervous energy in there, particularly when you are making your debut. We have got to bear in mind that the lad has only played reserve football before.

" Having said that he has had an international game so he will know what it is all about. But, this is a little bit different I think, there is a lot at stake, three points are important to Carlisle United and it matters, every kick of the ball matters. So, he knows that, he will be ready for it, and we think we have got ourselves a good player.

" I think the key to the signing is that we have had him watched as well. Not only Greg (Abbott) but I know Eric Kinder has been down there and Dennis Booth has been down there.

" So, he has got a player that is a surprise to anybody that has been watching him for a while, so Greg was ready to move as soon as Thirls (Paul Thirlwell) was confirmed (injured). He wanted a like for a like or a similar player who could come in and he knew that Norwood could do that job, so he is here.

" We have all been YouTube-ing him and there is a bit of evidence on there, the lad has got a very, very good free-kick. Whether he is up in the pecking order as far as our free-kicks for shots on goals are concerned we will have to wait and see. But, James Berrett has been doing a good job so which one or whether they mix it or who knows? We will have to wait and see. "

" Frank Simek as the captain is a very popular choice with the players, I know Greg had a word with him yesterday to say that he had got the nod. It is something that he will just slot into.

" He leads by example, that is very much what Paul Thirlwell does as well for us. Frank is just very, very steady, unflappable, passes the ball, does his job and that has an effect. I think we have seen that with the clean sheets we have had so far this month, so he is a good choice.

" Graham Kavanagh knows everything about Kazenga LuaLua, he was up against him just a few weeks ago before he made his move down to Brighton. The lad is fast, the lad is strong, so I think the three in the middle, (Matt) Sparrow, (Gary) Dicker and (Radostin) Kishishev, if we can't close them down then we will struggle today because this is a good side. So, for me the key battle today is midfield.

" Both sides like to play football the right way as Greg keeps saying, whatever the right way is. We think he means that it is on the floor, passing it around and getting it forward quickly in a good sexy manner, shall we say.

" But, certainly as far as the Johnstone's Paints comments are concerned, the point that Greg was making is that from round one through to the final that is going to earn us around-about a third of a million pounds once all the expenses and bonuses are chopped off it. You can't sniff at that at this level. "
