United media officer and first team kitman Andy Hall spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's James Phillips ahead of Carlisle's League One match at home to Gillingham this afternoon, Hall first talking about the ongoing injury problem for striker Joe Anyinsah :

" Neil Dalton had a look at Joe yesterday and we wanted to reassess the situation this morning. But I think that Dolly always had in the back of his mind that we would get Joe along to see the specialist that he has been dealing with anyway just to see what is going on in there. So that will happen whenever we can set it up and we can take it from there.

" There is always the option of another injection, we have said it before with players in the top flight and players at our level, if you have that injection that sometimes it calms it down and you are able to see it through.

" I think Joe has been unlucky with the run of games we have had back to back hasn't helped. You have got to train hard, you have got to work hard. With an injury like that in the groin area it has just aggravated it a little bit. So we are not going to guess, we will speak to the specialist and see what happens.

" I think when you look at the last couple of performances Greg Abbott could almost have made any changes he wanted couldn't he. He has been upfront about the fact that it hasn't quite gone the way that we wanted it to, certainly at this stage of the season and certainly with the position in the league table that we have got. You want to stay there and push on, not find yourself dropping back again. "

" So he has looked at it, he has decided that he is picking an eleven that he thinks can do a job against a Gillingham side that we expect to go 4-3-3. If we do it properly against that kind of line-up here at home, with a very young energetic midfield then we should be in a very good position.

" I think what Greg does is that he looks at what he has got in front of him on a day to day basis. Perhaps he feels one player is able to do a job better than another, not suggesting that that player is doing anything wrong. He has got to pick a starting line-up and we have got to go with that because he is the manager. We can all have our opinion but he chooses that eleven to go over the line, and whoever they are he expects them to perform.

" What Paul Thirlwell does, you miss it when he is not there, he is that kind of holding player, he doesn't do many things dynamic. I know he has got a couple of fantastic goals recently but there is nothing dynamic but it is very hard work. When he is not playing you start to realise that he is the one that has been breaking it up, holding the shape, keeping the formation, geeing people up, and that is why he is club captain.

" Statistics are interesting but they are things that us in the media, we love them because it is something that you can hang your hat on at the end of the game. But let's hope that we are talking about a continuation of a very poor run of form for Gillingham on the road. "
