Terry Skiverton
Yeovil player-manager Terry Skiverton spoke to BBC Radio Somerset about what his side have been doing this week after their home game against Hereford on Tuesday night was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, Skiverton also looking ahead to tomorrow's match against Carlisle at Huish Park :

" It is amazing really the actual weather, we are getting rain, sleet, snow and beautiful sunshine today so it just seems to be an absolute contrast of weather conditions. Fingers crossed that we don't have any more snow though because if we do then the game could be in doubt couldn't it. We need to get some games because it is going to just carry on and keep having games on now until the end of the season. We don't want that, we want to get these games out of the way, get them done, and then have at least a few clear weeks so that we can get a bit of work on the training ground.

" I am not concerned about the pitch at this stage, the snow can be all swept off and taken off the top off the covers. It will be just waiting to see what happens tonight though when we come in tomorrow. We have got some training up on the top pitch but we couldn't do much. What I do need is a lot more time on the training pitch with the lads.

" It is just a little bit disappointing when the whole of the Somerset area doesn't have a 3G surface (synthetic turf) or an indoor surface like that. So it makes it quite hard to get decent surfaces but people like Westlands and Yeovil College and Cannons and all these places have been really good to us recently. We might have to go back and beg, steal and borrow off these people.

" Danny Schofield trained today, Craig (Alcock) is still resting along with Pelts (Lee Peltier), they are progressing and we are just going to have to wait as late as possible to see if they will be available at the weekend. They are progressing now though and the knocks that were there on Tuesday, we are hoping that they can go into the game and that they will be fit and available. "

" He (Nathan Smith) is the same, he is overcome, he has just got a little bit of a tight knee, I have never heard of a tight knee but he has got a bit of a tight knee. He is getting over that now and hopefully he will be available as well. Danny did a full session today, he actually trained the day leading up to the game as well so Danny will be fine for the weekend.

" He (Danny Hutchins) trained really well today, he looked really sharp, we had someone that we know in London who has been to watch a lot of games and he told us about him straight away. It was a last minute thing but today he showed up very well in training and he is someone that is going to be a great addition to the squad. If need be then he will be available for selection so he did look very good today and he is someone that is going to definitely enhance the squad.

" I think that he was disappointed not to make his debut on Tuesday but I think that he would like to make his debut on a nice clear day. I think that if the game had gone on then it would have been a lottery and I don't think that we could have afforded to have had any more injuries in the game. So it would have been a bit of a lottery but it is a chance for us as a club to give someone that is starting out in their career their league debut.

" I remember doing it at Wycombe when I was at Chelsea as a young lad and it can really shape your career. So it will be really good for him when he does get his big debut. I had a full day of training as well today so I am very pleased. We were up there, we were tackling and everything on the foot and everything, so I should be available for selection as well at the weekend. "

" I have not played enough football or trained enough to be throwing myself right back in, it is no good going out there and not performing well. So I will be edging myself back in but it makes for a little bit more competition at the back now so it will be interesting to see the way that we go forward from here. Gary Roberts is definitely someone that can create things, he has got a great passing range, great distribution and he gets about the pitch well. If those two (Roberts and Schofield) are available and fit and raring to go then it will cause other teams a lot more problems.

" We mix and match it in training and the thing which I have been doing is any time that we are doing phases of play and the way that we can look at our shape, I have not been involved at all. So in the matter when we do that, you can only do the five-a-sides and a little bit of the fast feet work and the fitness work as well. When it comes to that though I have stepped out and have been taking it, so there will be no problems there.

" We will be looking for a nice strong performance against Carlisle, they are quite a big side, they have just recently acquired Gareth Taylor who is like a journeyman professional but is a very good player. He is good at holding the ball up and is very strong in the air. We know their strengths and their weaknesses as well and we will be looking to exploit that.

" We will be alright at set-pieces because we have got someone (Aaron Brown) to stand right in the middle of the goal who is 6'4 or 6'5. So if he wins all his headers then we will be OK and Josh (Wagenaar) has been fantastic at coming out and getting crosses as well. So we are confident with defending from corners, I don't think that there have been as many goals recently that have been going on direct from corners. "

" So we have been defending them quite well but it is the second balls, it is what we have been doing, we have been squeezing. It is has only been little bits of concentration that we are working on now, we are doing loads of concentration sessions and loads of sessions on us being switched on to certain situations regarding when you are squeezing, when to hold and when to drop. The lads have taken that on board and their attitude and enthusiasm for the sessions has been excellent so far.

" Physically upfront you can't all of a sudden ask Luke Rodgers to be 6'3 but we have been working, we have been still sticking to our gameplan and the way that we are going to play and the way that we want to move forward. That hasn't changed at all, maybe a little bit better quality coming in from the back to the front, a little bit lower so that people can get it under control. Apart from that though we have just been training and doing everything the right way that we have said to the lads straight away to them as soon as we went in that we were going to be playing.

" It would be nice to extend the gap between us and the bottom four and that is in the back of our minds. We want to go out there though and we want to start strong, really close the pitch up, be nice and tight at the back, no mistakes, cause them some problems and get some early chances under our belt. So if we do that then I feel that we will be there or thereabouts.

" It would be nice for me to get my first win as Yeovil manager at home, it is definitely nice to get your first win but that is not the be-all and end-all for me at the moment. It is about getting three points but it is about the team doing it in the right way and playing the right way and going out there and doing all the other stuff. I am trying to get them to pass it and to play it but you have got to go out there and show heart, determination and a will to win, that is what I want along with the way that we are going to play. "
