Gary WaddockWanderers boss Gary Waddock spoke to his club's official website ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorow afternoon, Waddock though first looking back on Wycombe defeating Chesterfield 3-2 at Adams Park last weekend :

“The Chesterfield game was an important win, and obviously the manner of the result with the late goal meant everybody left in high spirits. So, it has been good around the training ground this week, which it has been all along but it was a big boost. Everybody built that game up, a six-pointer, but we wanted to win a game, we had had a poor run of results and we were going into the game with everybody building it up.

“We won it, a lot of character and desire was shown by the players going down early on and then going down again, to pull that around and win the game was encouraging for all. It’s important to try to back that up because of the situation we are in, but we have said that a few times this year and we know how tough a test it is going to be for us. It is a long journey, they have got a very good home record and they have had a good season, so it would be nice if we could back it up, but we know how difficult a task that is going to be, but we will be trying.

“They will be confident, me and Dobbo (Richard Dobson) watched them against Charlton in the FA Cup and we know their strengths, and obviously we will hopefully pick out one or two weaknesses where we can get at them. But, the biggest thing is confidence and belief which is what we have been on to our players about, and Carlisle have got it because they have been winning football matches.

“So, it will be tough but it is a game that we are looking forward to, the weather, the conditions, the long journey just before Christmas, it is another challenge for us and if we can get a result up there it will be very pleasing for us and a bit of momentum as well going into that Christmas and New Year period. We have to remember the level we are at as well. No game is one you can be sure of getting a win from. We're at a different level now but we'll go up there and give it our best shot."

The other pair of players missing have both just returned to light training, the pair being QPR-loanee midfielder Martin Rowlands who is working his way back from a hamstring injury, while 20-year old striker Matt McClure is on the comeback trail after suffering a dislocated ankle while on loan at Hayes & Yeading in August.
