Town boss Maurice Malpas spoke to the Swindon Advertiser ahead of the match against Carlisle tomorrow, Malpas talking about his new on-loan signing from Fulham, in midfielder Michael Timlin, who will stay with the Robins until the end of the season :

"He is a footballer. I am hoping he will come and pass the ball for us. He will bring some composure to our game and is someone with a good range of passing. He is someone who will help us create chances as well.

"We have the guys like Craig Easton, who will put players under pressure, we have guys like Lee Peacock who are strong and physical and I just feel we lacked a player who could pass it. He has been here before as well, he knows some of the players and we will get him in on Saturday.

"When I first came there were two or three names banded about and he was one of them. I have seen him a couple of times and he has done well. I am looking for him to come to Swindon Town and show everyone what he can do after being stuck in the reserves for so long. We think he can add something and we will see where we go from there."

Then looking ahead to the actual match itself Malpas commented :

"I have told the players they have to do better. After the game on Tuesday I was a wee bit excited, annoyed and I rattled a few cages. After playing so well for 80 minutes one or two in the dressing room were wondering what had happened. But to play well for 80 minutes and poorly for ten and lose a game is not good enough.

"Together we have to overcome that and if it means at times I have to go ranting and raving then I will. If people are missing chances I will rant and rave at them as well. That was the first time I have done something they were not expecting. I think they were probably expecting maybe disappointment but I was far away in terms of that.

"After the Walsall game I was quite quiet because I could not believe how poor we were. That is part and parcel of being a manager. I spoke to a manager the other day who was fighting in the dug out and he said it was to spur his players on. I don't want to go that far but sometimes we have to do it to see what reaction we get. I have been reasonably placid with them but on Tuesday night I went the other way and hopefully we get a response Saturday."

Timlin has returned to the County Ground for a second loan spell due to an injury crisis for the Robins in midfield. Chris Allen will miss out after picking up a knee injury in Town's defeat at Leyton Orient on Tuesday while Michael Pook remains sidelined with a dead leg. Christian Roberts is then a long-term casualty with a serious knee injury and defender Patrick Kanyuka is still out of contention with an ongoing thigh problem.

Meanwhile two players sitting in the stand due to suspensions are striker Billy Paynter and ex-United man Lee Peacock who both serve the second games of respective two and three-game bans. Last but not least comes former Sheffield Wednesday striker Barry Corr who has been struggling with a shoulder injury as of late.

The referee for tomorrow's match is Mike Russell from St Albans in Hertfordshire, and he will be assisted down the lines by two Martin's, the first being Paul from Wellingborough in Northamptonshire and the second being Rob from South Yorkshire. Meanwhile the fourth official is Simon Hooper from, erm, Swindon.
