McCunnie in Dunfermline colours
'Pools defender Jamie McCunnie spoke to the Hartlepool Mail yesterday about the match against the Blues tonight, the ex-Dunfermline player and Scotland under-21 skipper first talking about his side's disappointing late defeat at home to Walsall last weekend :

"I suppose it is a bit of a back-handed compliment that teams are going to come to our place and look to frustrate us. We have got a reputation for playing football so we are going to get teams coming here and playing that way. It is something we have to live with. At home you are the ones who have the impetus.

"They came to spoil but we have got to do a lot more. It was probably a bit harsh to lose the game in the last minute and a draw might have been a bit fairer. We didn't do enough though. The fans were not happy but I can understand why. We needed to give them something to shout about and we didn't do that.

"Fair play to Walsall, they came here and set out their stall. They sat in and played it long but we allowed ourselves to get dragged into their game rather than play our own way. It is a bit of a lesson for us and we need to put it right against Carlisle.

"The good thing is that the match is up right away, we won't have too much time to dwell on Saturday. When you have a week or sometimes longer you can go over it and it bugs you all week.

"This way we have a chance to put things right. Carlisle are a decent side and they might come here and try to play a bit, which will suit us. We have had a good start to the season and we don't want to let it slide now. Three points tomorrow will keep us in a good position before we go to Nottingham Forest."

Meanwhile 'Pool boss Danny Wilson talked to the official website about his new temporary signing in 25-year old ex-Bristol City defender Danny Coles who yesterday signed for 'Pools on a one-month loan spell from Championship outfit Hull City :

"Danny is a player I know very well from Bristol. He is a very versatile player and can play anywhere along the back four, so he will add some competition in that area. Danny has come here looking for a fresh challenge and while it's only for a month initially, we hope he enjoys his time with us and we can be successful."

Like Carlisle the home side have little to be worried about on the injury side of things at the moment. The only doubt for 'Pools for being one-time Blues transfer target Ian Moore who missed the last-minute defeat at home to Walsall on Saturday after suffering neck and back injuries in a car accident on Friday.

The referee for tonight's match is Mike Pike from Barrow-in-Furness, and he will be assisted down the lines by Barry Sygmuta from Northallerton in North Yorkshire and Mo Matadar from Blackburn. Meanwhile the fourth official will be Tony Harrington from Hartlepool.
