Southend boss Steve Tilson spoke to BBC Radio Essex and his club's official website about tomorrow's match against Carlisle at Roots Hall, Tilson first giving his opinion on what chances the Shrimpers have of sneaking into the play-off spots after losing 3-0 at Swindon Tuesday night :

" We have got five home games and three away so while it is possible you have got to believe that you can get the points. Even before Tuesday night though it was a massive ask for us, we have probably got to win six and maybe draw one to get in there. We have got 55 points though and the lads have done fantastically to get themselves out of a little hole that we were getting ourselves into.

" So credit to them, we have had a lot of games, we have got a small squad, we looked a little bit tired on Tuesday night once we went behind. They have done unbelievably over the last couple of months though, it has been a tough season for us but with two home games coming up we will be all out to win both.

" We have got eight games left now, we have got to just make sure that we don't get complacent and see the season out. We have got to try to win every game possible. It is easy to get in that complacent mood now so we have got to make sure that while it is possible, or even if it is not possible, we have got to out there and try to win every game.

" We won four away games on the bounce before Tuesday, we haven't made too many changes within. With a small squad with the number of games that we have had they have done ever so well, so we look forward to Saturday. It could be time to make some changes and freshen things up a little. During the last few weeks we have had a lot of matches and that has taken its toll a little. It's a chance to give some of our other players a chance and we will look to do that. "

" Six weeks ago they (Carlisle) were the same as we were, we were around them an luckily enough we have gone on a decent run and they have still stayed inconsistent, hence while they are still down there. Carlisle will be up for it because they will want more points to move further away from the relegation zone. We will need to react the right way for that one because they aren't a bad side either.

" We are pleased to be back at home, three away games on the bounce is a lot of travelling and we won two of them and lost one of them, I think that is probably more than we expected. So we are obviously pleased with the return on the away games and now with two home games coming up we are looking forward to it.

" I think that until it is mathematically impossible for us to get in the play-offs we have got to keep believing that we can do that, so we'll keep putting a side out that we feel can go and get a result. Whether you can make it or whether you can't it is all about pride, you want to go out there and win every game, whether it is a pre-season game, whether it is a cup game or a league game.

" You want to win every game, you have got that pride to play for so wherever we are, whether it is possible or not, we want to win every game. I want to win every game, I want to get as high as we can so we will be out to do that. The players are professionals and they are doing it for a living and we want to win every game so we will certainly try to do that. "

Meanwhile assistant manager Paul Brush, speaking to the Southend Evening Echo, also suggested that there could be some playing changes in the Shrimpers side tomorrow :

" We will have a look at how one or two players are but it could be that it's time to make some changes. We've had a lot of games in a short space of team and we need to do what we can with our small squad to try and keep the team fresh.

" We also want to give other people a chance and I'm sure that will happen in the next couple of games. We're hopeful that Macca will be able to play (Alan McCormack) We will have to see how he is today in training and then go from there.

" There weren't too many plus points from the game at Swindon on Tuesday night but the way Damian (Scannell) played when he came on was one of them. He was also very positive when he came on at Hereford last weekend and is one who could soon be getting a chance.

" After a terrific opening ten minutes at Swindon we fell away which was a huge disappointment. We can't do that again and Carlisle will certainly be up for it as well because they will want more points to move further away from the relegation zone. They are always hard to play against, they are dangerous from set pieces and have two lively strikers so we will have to be on form to get the better of them. "
