Walsall's veteran goalkeeper Jimmy Walker spoke to the Express and Star and his club's official website ahead of his team's League One match against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow, Walker saying the Saddlers staying up would be one the biggest achievements of his career :

"It would be a massive achievement to stay up. I left when we got relegated (in 2004) and that was the biggest disappointment of my career. But staying up now will be one of the biggest achievements if we can do it. It would be magic. I don't know how long I've got left and if it was to end at the end of the season it would be the icing on the cake. What we all want to do is stay in this division.

"We're looking a lot more solid now. We've raised the bar on our expectations and it says it all that we were disappointed to be leaving Notts County with just a point rather than all three. It's time to start doing the business now; we've hit the ground running under Dean (Smith) and we know that we are capable of beating anyone at this level. It's a positive attitude that has spread throughout the club.

"I'm really enjoying my football. This is a club that is close to my heart and I am working hard to help keep us up. Our fans have been absolutely superb in recent weeks. They gave us excellent backing at Notts County and it really was great to see. They've certainly played their part in lifting us and giving us a boost and I think they can see that we are a decent side now with everyone working hard for each other."

While winger Julian Gray told the official Walsall website :

"The way we're playing at the moment suits my game and is more offensive minded, for me, that's what my strengths are. I'm getting a lot more of the ball, getting in the right areas and doing what I do best. I feel my performances are getting better, the team is playing well and the strikers are getting a lot more service. Long may it continue, that's all I say, and the fans can see the best of me.

"We all know we weren't playing well in the first half of the season. We didn't need anyone to tell us that outside of the training ground, we all knew. We're still not happy about where we are. Sometimes you try so much to turn it around you lose sight of what you should be doing.

"When things are bad, sometimes you try different things instead of sticking to what you know best. Now we're doing what we do best, sticking to our strengths and what we know best. We've got to go into every game positively, the belief is there that we can create chances and give everyone a game."

And experienced frontman Jon Macken also commented to the official Saddlers website :

"We have the belief, we've got ourselves on a bit of a run and our performances are improving all of the time. We're raising the standards and I know there is still a lot more to come from us. Every game in this League is difficult and Carlisle will be no different, but we go there full of confidence hoping to get the right result. Carlisle are a good side, but they have not been consistent this season. It's a place we can go and get something.

"It's pleasing to be involved, we're not feeling sorry for ourselves and letting things effect us any more. We're showing spirit and determination to keep fighting to the end. Of course I want to score more, every striker does, but I am pleased to be creating for others. It's all about helping the team get the results to move up the table. The fans have a big part to play in this and they can see we're improving as a team and as individuals. It's all about sticking together and believing."
