Tranmere boss Ronnie Moore spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside and the Wirral Globe about his side's away trip to Brunton Park tomorrow, Moore, who has no injury or suspension problems in his squad at present, suggesting that his side are playing well without getting any reward :

"We had a magnificent performance against Carlisle last time and we need to do the same again this weekend. I believe we've got a good bunch of players here, so I don't see any reason why we can't get the result. It's not the end of the world, even though we were beaten on Friday. Anyone who saw us play on Friday night will agree that the tempo was good, but some days that's the way it goes for you.

"It's too early to say how the division's looking. But I think there's one or two teams that have had good starts and the bigger boys, if you like, are still knocking on the door - the likes of Leeds and Leicester who are expecting to get to the top. We've had a tremendous start. There are a lot of teams who are still on the fringe, but there's a lot still to do.

" There is no doubting our performances but it is a results game, that is the big thing. I would love to go to Carlisle and be absolutely awful and come away and say 'how the hell have we won that?'. That is what we need, the icing on the cake is your performance but at the end of the day we need to turn the performances into wins.

" It is a little break or a little bit of luck that we are just lacking, if we keep working the way that they are working and playing the way that they are playing, then sooner or later it is going to fall for you. We are working hard, there is no doubt about that, we have got a good squad of players here, I think that we have got as good a squad that we have had for a while. "

" You have to, all that possession that you have, you have to turn them into wins. I think that it is nice to go and win scruffy if you like, rather than come away and say how well we played and how did we lose that game. Because ifs and buts win you nothing.

" He (Ryan Shotton) has been magnificent hasn't he, there is no doubt about that. He is a big lad, he is a strong lad, he can play right-back, he can play centre-half, he can score goals. So I think that we have got a little gem there, there is no doubt about that and the longer that he can stay with us the better.

" We are not a million miles away, it is daft when you have just lost a game at home against Colchester 4-3. The two games before then though, the Oldham game before that, we have lost to Oldham here 1-0. Then we have had two great results away from home and I think that we carried that form through without really getting the breaks on Friday.

"I don't think we did a lot wrong and some people may think that's daft when you're 4-1 down. When we were 4-1 down, I was wondering, 'what's going on here' and thinking we should have defended better. I'd like to think Friday was a one-off because you're not going to get many shots from 30 yards hitting the back of the net. At 4-1 you're dead and buried and then the goalie gives you a lift. "

" So there is no doom and gloom, I have shown the lads the video, they have had a look at it and we have sat through it. They realise, because sometimes you can look at it and be kidded, but when you look at it the goals are all magnificent. There have been four unbelievable goals in that game and if it had been in the Premiership then they would have been on the television all week, especially Ryan Shotton's.

" They (Carlisle) are a very strong side, they keep their shape, they are well organised, they are disciplined, that is the way John Ward has had his sides, and always will have his sides. They have lost their last three games so they won't want that to continue for much longer, that is for sure. I think that they have just come out of the top six for the first time in the last 12 months, it is a tremendous record that they had at Carlisle, so we know that it is going to be a tough game.

" They have got pace in (Cleveland) Taylor, and Williams (Jennison Myrie-Williams) is there who we had here on loan as well. They have got a bit of experience upfront with (Danny) Graham, and (Michael) Bridges is there, so they are a decent side. If we don't play as well as we can play then it is going to be a long afternoon. We are in decent form though, don't be kidded by what happened on Friday, and I think that we are a match for anybody home or away at this present time.

" It will be strange seeing Jennison because he is in and out as well, he has been sat on the bench there but he came on on Saturday. I would imagine that he will be looking forward to playing against us. It will be strange but we have seen his ability when he was here and what he can do, playing on the left-wing or playing on the right-wing. So whichever wing he plays on if he does play then our full-backs will not give him a game, that is for sure. "

The referee for tomorrow's match is RAF Sergeant Darren Drysdale who is based at Waddington in Lincolnshire, and he will be assisted down the lines by Martin Coy from Durham and Paul Curry from Morpeth in Northumberland. Meanwhile the fourth official is Geoff Eltringham from Sunderland.
