Pre-Match Quotes From The Grays Camp

Numerous Grays players and coaches spoke to YourThurrock.com after their 2-0 home win over Oxford United at the weekend, all of them looking forward to the FA Cup replay against Carlisle at the New Recreation Ground tonight :

Head coach Jimmy Dean :

" Playing Jon Ashton upfront again is a possibility but he did ever so well last week, although you can't fault anyone, their effort was superb last week. Especially Jon playing out of position, we thought that he held the ball up decently, he is a big physical presence so it gives us that option as well to go a little bit longer and obviously get in behind with Andre (McCollin's) pace as well. "

Assistant manager Gary Phillips :

" In the FA Cup we are a little bit limited as to where we can go because people are cup-tied that have come into the club. Obviously people have left as well so we are limited to numbers and what we can actually do. It is fair to say that I am not sure, I don't want to be giving away too many secrets, but it might be the case that Jon might have to play upfront again on Tuesday. In league games though he will obviously revert back to either centre-half or a defensive role. "

Midfielder Sam Sloma :

" Away at Carlisle was funny, we went there for three days and we weren't necessarily, not looking forward to the game, it is a long trip and a long journey. It was actually a really good few days though, the boys all got on really well and it has brought us together a little bit.

" So we feel good and hopefully we can now start producing wins that we should have been producing earlier in the season. Positive about Tuesday, I don't know, we are looking forward to it. It is a great game to play in and there is no pressure on us. They are expected to win so we will go out and we will try to play our game.

" If we can play as well as we did against Oxford and last week then who knows.I think we are starting to look like a team again. We were poor for the first 20 minutes today, but after that we played some good stuff. We started going back to doing what we do best.

" Tuesday will be one of those nights where we won't be under any pressure. We are not expected to win. We are the underdogs and hopefully we can go out there and continue our good form. I don't think we have missed our opportunity after the first tie. They will not want to come down here on a cold Tuesday night. We are looking forward to it. "

Manager Wayne Burnett :

" We prepare for Tuesday pretty much how we prepared for the first game against Carlisle. We have gone in the game and there is no pressure on us at all. They have got to come here on a Tuesday night, are they going to be prepared?, are they going to want to be here? Possibly, but there is no pressure on us, we can go and play, and I genuinely think that there is a possibility that we can, I really do believe that we can go through to the next round.

" It is a great opportunity for us, it's funny, the FA Cup is strange sometimes. We have got nothing to lose, the players will be up for it and hopefully there will be a big crowd to support us. We are certainly going to give it our very best. "

Goalkeeper David Button :

" I can't wait for Tuesday night so hopefully we will have another good result and go through. "

As in the case from the initial tie, Grays have five players signed in the last month or two cup-tied for the game tonight. Those players being Jamie Slabber, Efe Echanomi and Scott Forrester, the trio having featured for Havant and Waterlooville, Tiptree United and Met Police respectively in earlier qualifying rounds of the FA Cup. Also cup-tied are midfielder Kenny Beaney and defender Damien Batt, both picked up from Burnett's previous club Fisher Athletic.

Two loan players are available for the home side however, those being Yeovil Town striker Andre McCollin and Spurs goalkeeper David Button, one man still sidelined due to a hand injury though is goalkeeper Ross Flitney. While Bradley Gray who was on the bench for the Essex club at Carlisle has ended his loan spell from Leyton Orient, Gray now making a similar temporary move to Conference South outfit St Albans.

The referee for tonight's match is David Phillips from West Sussex, and he will be assisted down the lines by Richard Kendall from Luton in Bedfordshire and David Belbin from Staines in Middlesex. Meanwhile the fourth official is Michael Bull from Chelmsford in Essex.
