City boss Paul Tisdale
Exeter manager Paul Tisdale spoke to BBC Radio Devon and the Express and Echo ahead of his side's League One match against Carlisle at St James Park tomorrow, Tisdale looking for the Grecians to bounce back after being defeated at the Banks's Stadium last weekend :

" We lost a game on Saturday (2-1 against Walsall) that we shouldn't have lost and this is a good chance to put that to bed. We have got to do the necessary work to achieve our results at home. I will be working my hardest to make sure we don't lose on Saturday.

" We can't afford to rest on our laurels, we have got to attack every game like it is a must-win game. That has to be the mentality and that is what we will be doing. It is a good opportunity for us because we are back at the Park. We are really disappointed that we didn't get anything at Walsall, but we have to forget about that and go into this game with strong minds.

" Carlisle are second in the league because they deserve to be, that is the first thing. They have scored more goals than they have conceded and they have picked up very good points. The league is very tight, we are in 12th position but we could be sitting here after last week's game quite close to the top, so a win or a loss makes such a big difference in this league at present.

" So, they are not of touch from ourselves in terms of league position, in a couple of weeks time we could be above them, the league is that tight. They represent another challenge, Peterborough came here second in the league a few weeks ago, Rochdale came here two weeks ago in the top six. "

" The league is very tight, every team that comes here will cause us concern and make us prepare correctly which is absolutely right. Carlisle have got a very good defence in place this year, ironically these things sometimes don't always go to script, and I would hope that we have the potential to score goals against anybody.

" So, I am not ruling out us getting an early goal or winning the game with some goals, I am certainly not looking at this game pessimistically although we are playing against a side who have been very hard to breach this season so far. We have been good at home, but Carlisle are having a terrific season so far so we need to be wary. Their away form is good, our home form is the same so I expect it to be a very close game.

" The players should be confident playing at home, but they shouldn't get over-confident. We try our best in every game, I think our major motivation this year has been to try to improve our away form, which I think we have done already. Whether our home form has improved, I would like to think it has.

" I think the good home form is a combination of us being very happy with our play at home, having a very good support and understanding what our game is about and playing a familiar type of football week in and week out at home. There is no specific answer, the fact is we have been very good at home for a long time, so long may it continue. "

" We don't want to get complacent or get sloppy, football has a funny knack of turning round on you for good and for bad. Both us and Carlisle are I am sure very happy to be playing in League One this particular weekend. But, I would say that although it doesn't present as such as yet in terms of league position, I think we are a better side than we were last year.

" My expectations are a lot higher than they were last year, we have a more familiar pattern to our play, we have the potential of more goals than we had last year, and on the whole we have a team playing better football. So, you put those things together over the next 35 games then I think we will be a better team than last year, that is all I can say at this stage.

" Troy (Archibald-Henville) will be suspended, Jamie Cureton won't be fit, other than that the rest of them will be vying for contention and selection that hasn't yet been made. After Troy, Rob Edwards is the third-choice centre-half we have got. You don't envisage having your two main centre-halves out injured - it is just one of those things.

" But Rob will bring experience, understanding and know how and it is his role to provide back-up for the odd game and to come off the bench in certain games. I have got a couple of choices. I could either sign another major centre-half, but they will expect to play and Troy is back next week. Or you rely on someone like Rob, who is perfectly placed to fill in when needed.

" Rob never lets me down, I don't think any player has. He is a very able person to come in and play and of course he started his career at Carlisle so he is playing against his original team. I am sure he will do a very good job. "
