Brighton boss Micky Adams spoke to BBC Southern Counties Radio about his side's game at home to Carlisle tomorrow afternoon, Adams also later looking back on Peterborough defeating the Seagulls 4-2 at the Withdean Stadium on Tuesday night :

" I can only talk about what I have seen from Carlisle this season really and it was 3-1 on their park and they played particularly well that day and we didn't show up. We had a long journey up there and our fans certainly did, I am sure that it was a long journey back for them. Because we didn't perform and you need your key players at times performing at all times and we didn't have that on the day.

" I'm not afraid to put out the same attacking formation (as in Tuesday's 4-2 defeat at home to Peterborough). You could say that against Peterborough you might go slightly defensive because of their attacking strengths but you still might lose the game because that is the nature of their squad.

" So we thought that the best form of defence was attack against them, and we will have a look at Carlisle and see what their strengths and weaknesses are decide where we go from there. Certainly if I had to put the same eleven out again though then I would have no qualms about it.

" It is a game that we will have to attack positively and I certainly don't want anyone thinking about the game against Luton on the Tuesday. We need to be as positive as we were against Peterborough and certainly whilst we have got every respect for Carlisle they are not Peterborough United.

" We did a lot of good things on Tuesday and we take those positives into the next game, it doesn't matter who it is against. We are getting there. I can see the progress being made. What I won't do is make one or two changes to the side, because I think that looks a bit scapegoatish. I'll either make none or I'll make sweeping changes - that is the dilemma I've got."

" The Peterborough game changed on the penalty decision, I think that the referee (James Linington) once he sees it, I think that he was a long way off to give it. I think that the pace of the game had picked up slightly and he wasn't up to speed if you like. Early on when the game was a little bit slower I thought that he was a spot on but that is a key, key decision and I thought that looking at the DVD we should have had a penalty in the first-half.

" Then in the second-half he gave a penalty that he shouldn't have done. Now you might say that the reaction of our players was that nobody was complaining about it but we can't win can we. We complain about a penalty at Oldham and that resulted in a booking for Adam Virgo and he gets sent off early in the second-half. So we have controlled our discipline slightly and possibly got punished for it.

" Because certainly I think that if that had been me playing then I might have been over the top of the boy (George Boyd) anyway telling him that I think that he has cheated and conned the referee. There was another Ferguson involved on Tuesday, I like Darren, he is a great kid and he is carving out a real reputation for himself, maybe the Ferguson name goes for him though.

" We are OK though, we have got beaten by Leeds United at home recently and MK Dons and Peterborough. They are all going to be in the mix up for the honours at the end of the season, and that is what we have got to attain to. Our home record is not a hoo-doo. It only becomes that if we talk about it too much. The facts will speak for themselves and we have got to get better at home, but we are moving forward.

" We weren't scoring goals, so in the January window I tried to rectify that. Parts of the team possibly need strengthening but that's the long-term plan for us all. We know we are not the finished article by any means. We have got a long-term strategy at the football club to be pushing, certainly into the top six or seven, next season, and I am sure that we will be there. "

In team news for the Seagulls right-back Andrew Whing is rated as 50-50 for the game tomorrow as he continues to struggle with a hamstring injury picked up in training. Definitely out though are left-back Kerry Mayo (stomach), utlility player Gary Hart (knee) and former Carlisle striker Glenn Murray (pelvis).

Another former Blue, in loanee Chris Birchall, is available though after missing the Peterborough defeat as he was on international duty in El Salvador for Trinidad and Tobago. Birchall though will have to settle for a place on the substitutes bench with Adams commenting : "He won't be in the starting eleven. I think the journey is too long and there is also the time difference to think about."

Finally two players who have left the Withdean Stadium on one-month loan spells to League Two side Aldershot and Conference South outfit Bognor Regis Town respectively this week are 22-year old striker Jake Robinson and 19-year old defender Andy Pearson.

The referee for tomorrow's match is Iain Williamson from Theale in Berkshire, and he will be assisted down the lines by David Belbin from Staines in Middlesex and Rob Whitton from Chelmsford in Essex. Meanwhile the fourth official is John Hopkins from Wickford in Essex.
