Mark Warburton Looks Ahead To Tomorrow

Brentford boss Mark Warburton spoke to his club's official website ahead of his side's League One match against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow afternoon, Warburton first looking back at the Bees losing 3-0 at home to Wolves last Saturday:

“We have looked at the Wolves game with the players in detail, looked at the goals, some mistakes, some little mistakes round the park that we could have tightened up on. But, in general we didn’t have a bad game, the first-half was nip and tuck, we looked at that and it confirmed it. One mistake and the goal, two mistakes and the goal and then the first 25 minutes of the second-half I thought we were good, but we weren’t very good.

“We were good, we controlled the game and dominated possession but we didn’t really get the shots away on target that we hoped we would get away. It is important to learn from it and we are ready now and the boys have trained well and we are looking forward to Carlisle. The boys have lost one in 20, it as simple as that, if that is a disaster then I will take a disaster.

“Disappointed in terms of us wanting to win the game of course, but there are lot of points to play for and we are in a good position still. We are fit and well so hopefully we will get a good performance at Carlisle. Training has gone very well, the pitch has held up well but as soon as it rains it becomes difficult, but it is just the time of year and Mother Nature. But, training has been bright, the boys are doing some extras and they are in a good frame of mind.

“We are travelling up by train for the game, I think it is a 3 hour 20 minute journey from Euston. So, on occasion the boys can get up and walk about and stretch their legs. It is important, they have worked hard all week, done all the right preparation for them, but then it would be seven or eight hours on a coach. So, we have done the right thing hopefully, it will be the best preparation for the boys and hats off to the logistics guys in arranging that.

“The two other games against Carlisle this season won’t have any bearing on tomorrow. It is another game, it is all our focus has been this week, get this game focused on with hopefully a good performance and a good result. Then we move on from there, that is how we always work it. But, we are ready for this game, the FA Cup game was traumatic for a number of reasons and I thought we coped well on a very difficult day, but this is a different proposition now.

“I expect Carlisle will be organised, look to counter, I think they will sit back and let us come and play and look to break us on the counter. I think teams might have watched the game last week and thought that is how you beat Brentford, I hope that is the case, we are ready for it and we have learnt from it. But, they will be well organised, a very passionate and experienced manager, so we are aware of that and they are fighting for the points as well obviously.

“So, it will be a tough game but hopefully we will have enough in our locker. It is the next game, we set the boys a target from five games and this is game three now, they are still on track to achieve it and if we do that we will be in very good shape. We have got one or two knocks, so we are just going to nurse them through and see how they are, but it is that time of the season, I am sure all clubs are losing players, but we will check on them before the game.”
