Danny Wilson
'Pools manager Danny Wilson spoke to the Evening Gazette and his club's official website about this evening's match at Brunton Park, Wilson suggesting that his team will not take the game lightly despite Carlisle's poor form :

"Getting beaten 5-0 on Saturday can't be easy for them in terms of confidence. Especially as they are back home and playing in front of their home fans who may be a bit edgy themselves. But we are going there confident and we have had some good results, away from home as well.

"Carlisle's position means that if they don't keep a clean sheet they may waver a little bit from it. So we have to look at that, but I cannot comment too much on their situation, it's not really my concern. We treat these situations that develop in football very carefully.

"You know that the Managers and the players there will be looking for a reaction after the weekend and we have to be wary of that. There will be no complacency on our part just because of that result because we respect the players they have in their squad and John Ward as a Manager so we know that if they click they will make it very difficult for us.

"Confidence may be at a low ebb for them at the moment so they may not be right on top of their game so it's up to us to take advantage of that. But games against Carlisle in the past have always been very tough and tight affairs and I wouldn't expect tonight's game to be any different."

Meanwhile 'Pools skipper Sam Collins commented to the Hartlepool Mail :

"Carlisle are having a bit of a tricky spell and obviously we are on a bit of a run so hopefully that can continue. This league is a funny league though. Sometimes you feel a team is going to fall and then on the day you think 'how has that happened?' We have got to guard against that and carry on doing as we are.

"We know we have got our hands full again but hopefully we can get another good result. We have got to ride the crest of this wave for as long as possible. The teams that go up out of this division are the ones who are consistent. There is not much between any of us, even with the big two I don't think there is much difference."

In stark contrast to Carlisle the visitors only have one injury concern ahead of the game tonight, that being 33-year old midfielder Willie Boland who remains out with a knee ligament sprain, the Irishman having recently suffered a minor setback in his recovery to fitness.

The referee for tonight's match is Mike Riley from Leeds, and he will be assisted down the lines by Jeremy Simpson from Carnforth and Andrew Butler from the south of Lancashire. Meanwhile the fourth official is Scott Mathieson from Stockport.
