Seagulls manager Gus Poyet
Brighton boss Gus Poyet spoke to his club's official website and BBC Radio Sussex ahead of Albion's League One match at home to Carlisle tomorrow, Poyet obviously keen for the win that will take the Seagulls over the 50-point mark :

" I won't think about Carlisle's position, I will think about our position and Saturday is a great opportunity for us to keep winning at home. We didn't win a game at home for two or three months and now we've won three games and it's important that we keep winning at home. It's important we get to the 50-point mark as soon as possible.

" We will have Crofty (Andrew Crofts) back, and that is important, because it was not easy against Hartlepool without him. We missed him but we are looking forward to having him back and seeing him on the pitch again and he really wants to play. When you make decisions about the captaincy you pick different kinds of roles, sometimes you have leaders who want to organise the whole team and never stop talking.

" Then sometimes you decide for people who lead by example and Crofty is one of them. Of course it wasn't easy the other day when we missed him, especially because of the result, although it would be too easy to say that, sometimes you have to expect the players to win without them.

" Last Saturday (against Hartlepool) was the first game we had lost against a team outside of the top six since I have been here. It was a nice record to have and I thought maybe we wouldn't lose a game before the end of the season, but that record's gone now. There are eleven players in front of us, it doesn't matter what team we play because we must perform the same way every week now.

" If and when we have passed the 50-point mark we can start talking about player contracts, because there are a few who are desperate to talk about that. I have decided about the player contracts but I need to talk to the players about them, and I will not do that until we are safe, which is why it's so important that we win another game.

" If we do well in the next two games the players will probably find themselves sitting with the manager. I am now thinking about next season, whenever I have a spare afternoon, because if not it will be here before you know it and I won't be ready.

" I would like to have the same squad across the whole season, so I need to convince any players we want to bring that I want them for the whole season. I want the players to fight for their place, support their teammates, and take their chance when they get it. That's what makes a good team and a good group. "
