Alex' boss Gudjon Thordarson
Crewe manager Gudjon Thordarson spoke to his club's official website, BBC Radio Stoke and The Sentinel about the big relegation six-pointer between Carlisle and Crewe at Gresty Road this evening, Thordarson understandably pleased with a 4-0 win at Brighton last weekend :

" There are a lot of positives to take from the game on Saturday, but as soon as it was over and we had a nice trip home, it is finished. It was a good day, but the players and supporters have to quickly forget about that one and focus on the next one. No-one here is getting carried away, because there is a lot of hard work to be done. It is a great achievement to get out of the bottom four but now I want the players to focus on getting us up the table and away from the relegation zone.

" I don't have to go too far back to remind the players of what was taking place here a few months ago, and what the results were like, to remind them of the harsh reality. If they do then I will remind them what it was like a few months ago when they were not winning matches and what it felt like. That is the harsh reality of it and that has driven us all on to improve.

" That has given us the wins and we have to carry it on now until the end of the season. We need to understand what it is that has given us the wins, concentrate on doing that. My concern at this moment in time is that people get carried away, supporters and everybody around, they get carried away.

" My biggest concern is that people expect us now to go out and put out a so-called show instead of going out to commit ourselves to hard work. The hard work has got to be there and the commitment and the discipline because if you are going to drift and go into that pink sky floating around somewhere in the middle of nowhere then you will be punished because this is a tough division.

" It is a very, very tough month for us, I don't think that actually people have looked into how tough this month will be. The games are coming thick and fast, Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, and every single game is a very tough game. We need to look after ourselves in the best possible manner both mentally and physically. "

" We are missing a few players, such as Dennis (Lawrence) and Popey (Tom Pope), but there are some coming back now too, so it is something you just have to deal with. I'm sure there are a few clubs experiencing the same demands as us and I'm sure the players are looking forward to the games because confidence is high.

" I know my strikers will create chances but I was pleased that we managed to score goals from other positions on the pitch. It is important that we are a threat from the set-pieces which we are with Billy (Jones) and that the midfielders can score goals as well. As we showed at Brighton on Saturday, we are a threat from set-pieces and we can score goals in open play. We needed to improve at both ends and credit to my players as they have responded and done that.

" I think that the Crewe supporters who haven't been at the ground so far need to consider their position because are they going to keep missing out on good games? I have said it a long time ago and I have said it in the beginning of my first week here, we need the supporters back, we need to get them in numbers, we need them to get to the ground and get behind the team. If there has to be a reason for Crewe supporters to turn up then it is now.

" Kav (Graham Kavangh) is an excellent footballer and a good man. He is a good friend and I am looking forward to seeing him again. He is coming into the last stage of his career, but is still a top-class passer of the ball. He can pull the trigger from wherever, so he is a player with ability hard to find in this league.

" Carlisle looks a very tricky game for us. I am surprised they are not higher up the table with the players they have there and they will come here wanting to get a result to make sure they distance themselves from the bottom group as quickly as they can. Carlisle have collected most of their points at home but they have players capable of winning games anywhere. It will be a tough game for us and we will expect a hard-fought game.

" It is a tricky game for us and our players will be made fully aware of the situation because they will be after points like ourselves. They won't want to be dragged back into a relegation fight. Our confidence is high but it is important that we don't let expectations to go crazy. We have to keep our feet on our floor and continue to work hard. "
