Gary WaddockWycombe boss Gary Waddock spoke to his club's official website ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Adams Park on Good Friday afternoon, Waddock, like United manager Greg Abbott, having seen his side score in stoppage time in their last two matches :

“Getting two injury time goals says everything about the lads, they have not given up in those particular games, they believe they will get something out of every game, if we can just do it slightly earlier it would be helpful for everybody. But, great credit to them. The six games left are important games, we all know that but Friday against Carlisle is a very important game, and obviously with being able to move it to the Friday it gives us 24 hours more recovery going into the game on the Monday against Chesterfield. Chesterfield play on the Saturday so the recovery for us over the weekend is important.

“Carlisle are a good side and they have come off the back of a very good away win at MK Dons as well on their last away trip. They are in a play-off position, they have been consistent throughout the season and that is why they are there. Greg (Abbott) has done an excellent job up there and we have to be right on it on Friday to get anything from the game.

“For everybody else it is a Bank Holiday and they are looking forward to a break and going away, but the players are full on. We have had to change the programme this week with the game on Friday, but that is no problem at all. Then over the weekend it has obviously changed because of the game on the Monday. But, the preparation has been good, with the game on the Friday we have tried to prepare and give ourselves every possible chance of doing well over the weekend period.

“The whole atmosphere has changed around the place, we are picking up points and the lads have gained confidence from it. Yes, we have had some difficult periods during the season and when you are not doing so well and not picking up points it is not so bubbly and cheery around the place. But, the players have worked extremely hard to get us in a position that gives us a chance of picking up points going into games.

“It is a very important period in the season but you have seen in the last two games what it means to the players. We have also seen what it means from the fans as well with the support that we have had, they have been very noisy as well and that does help the players. Obviously, you have seen from the playing side what it means, they have been fighting for everything and they have been fighting right to the death. So, we need to show a lot more of that as well in these remaining fixtures.

“The next three games will go a long way to deciding where we end up but they won’t determine where we end up, we have got three more after that. Everybody has said that we have got three big games at the end of the season with Charlton, Notts County and Sheffield Wednesday, and they are important games but these next three are very important and the game on Friday is the biggest one of all because that is the next one. So, we will be prepared going into the game and the players have done extremely well and they will continue to do that.

“On injuries, Danny Foster has done some light work, Joel (Grant) will train with the squad today but the weekend games are far too early for him. Leon Johnson is back after his suspension, Dave (Winfield) we are monitoring on a daily basis, he is slowly improving but I think the weekend again will be too early for him. John Halls, James Tunnicliffe and Scott Donnelly are all longer term as such, but Donners has gone out and done some work outside. Halls is slowly improving and Tunnicliffe is working hard on getting some movement back in to the shoulder area.”
