Story Homes Stand - Brunton Park
On Friday evening Carlisle United's Brunton Park ground will stage a major schools international as England take on Scotland in the Centenary Shield, a competition for under-18 schoolboy teams contested by all the home nations. This, the penultimate fixture in the competition, also being broadcast live on SKY Sports One from 7.30pm.

As far as the table itself goes with only two games left, a win for the home nation tomorrow night would put them top of the table one point ahead of the Republic of Ireland, before the two sides lock horns in a winner takes all game at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium a week on Friday. For those who have never seen a schoolboy international before the match usually throws up someone who goes on to have a successful professional career. Last year in the same fixture, played at St. Mirren, one of the England players was Chris Smalling who has recently been transferred from Fulham to Manchester United for £8 million. Previous internationals have been held at Brunton Park and the 'football talent scouts' in the area may well recall some familiar names.

In 1979 England met Northern Ireland at Under 15's level. The England team included Trevor Steven and Mark Walters, both of whom went on to have successful professional careers while in the Northern Ireland team was Norman Whiteside. He was a year young for that age group and quite a skinny lad too but that didn't prevent him going on to represent his country and Manchester United on many occasions.

In 1981 England met Scotland Under 18's when the England team included Andrew Cale from Ulverston and Wes Saunders who went on to play for Newcastle and Carlisle. Back in 1996 England played Holland at Under-18's level when the Dutch team included eight from Ajax, among them Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink who is now plying his trade in the Premier League with Hull City.

As for tomorrow night's players, included in the England squad is Tim Rivers who has been involved at Blue Square Premier level for Lewes, while the nearest youngsters to Carlisle are Kris Wilkinson from Northumberland and Andrew Kelly. A bit closer to home though, albeit over the border, Queen of the South teenager Daniel Orsi is part of the Scotland squad.

Admission prices for the match, which kicks off at 7.40pm, are £5 for adults and £3 for anybody who is still at school, irrespective of age. The only stand open at Brunton Park on the evening is the Story Homes Stand and tickets are available from the ticket office in that stand before the game, people who take up the option of watching the match able to see some of the following players in action :
