Cherries boss Eddie Howe spoke to the Daily Echo and his club's official website ahead of Bournemouth's League One match at home to Carlisle tomorrow, Howe suggesting United will prove to be a tough test :

" Carlisle are a strong and powerful side and for any club to be unbeaten at this stage of the season is an achievement. They have brought in a number of new players in the summer, who have gelled really well and this will be a hard game. Most of the time they have played 4-3-3 and they have got some good players, and I think they have got a good manager.

" It's going to be a really tough test for us - probably one of the toughest tests we've had this season. They're unbeaten for a reason - they are solid and they do have dangerous front players. It will be another good gauge for us to see how competitive we're going to be this season. It's a long way to come for them and we hope that we can take the game to them and put them under a little bit of pressure.

" We have had a good week's training preparing for this game and the lads have worked really hard. They are all still very disappointed at how the game slipped away from us last week and are determined to put things right. This should be a really exciting game, and I hope that we get a good crowd who get behind the lads as they always do.

" The bigger crowds, the better from the players' point of view. The more atmosphere we can generate, the harder it is for opposing teams. You just have to look at Oldham last week, when they scored their first goal, and the difference their crowd made to them. It will be likewise for us. "

" Our crowd have been fantastic, especially when we're attacking that goal (in front of the Steve Fletcher Stand), they've been fantastic for us. We know how difficult the climate is at the moment in terms of finances and how difficult things are for people. But what you will see here is eleven lads who work their socks off and are totally committed to the cause week in, week out. And, hopefully, we are providing good entertainment for the people locally.

" We responded well to defeats last season and that is something we are going to need to do again. The disappointment is that we feel like we have chucked away five points this season and that rankles with us because we think of where we could have been.

" But it has gone and we just have to focus on the future and put it right. You have to react well to negatives, setbacks and disappointments. That has always been the case and it is the same at any level. Maybe on another day, we wouldn't have got punished but we did by Oldham.

" We work on the core principles every day and they don't change. All through pre-season, we really did concentrate on keeping possession of the ball, passing and moving and rotations, and the lads have taken it on board. I think we've improved and have got more confident with it as time has gone on and I think we're seeing that in the games now. "

" Hopefully, we will continue to improve and get better. I still think, despite the good start, there's still big room for improvement. Ultimately, the result is the most important thing and we're trying to generate a winning football team, and we think this is the best way to do it. A lot of football at the top level is all about possession of the ball and that is what we're trying to follow.

" I have been aware of Adam Smith for a long time. I watched him for the first time in a pre-season friendly about two-and-a-half years ago and he impressed me straight away. He is someone we have always kept tabs on and we are delighted to bring him here.

" We are fortunate to have two very good right-backs but unfortunate that we have lost them both to injury at the same time. We are lucky that we are in a position to bring in a loan player as cover. Hopefully, Adam will enjoy his time with us and his stay will benefit both parties. He impressed again when he played for Torquay against us last season.

" It's a shame that we have lost Stephen Purches and Lee Bradbury - we don't know quite how serious Bradders' injury is at the moment - so bringing in Adam gives us a chance to keep the continuity and keep the same system. "
