David Noble's Thoughts On The Carlisle Game

David NobleExeter skipper David Noble spoke to the Express & Echo ahead of his side's League One game against Carlisle at Brunton Park tomorrow afternoon, the midfielder saying the ground holds some good memories for him :

"For me personally it's always been a good ground. Exeter have got good results on their last two trips there and people feel comfortable when you go out in different arenas. It's a nice pitch and hopefully we can feel comfortable on Saturday and get the three points. I played there with Bristol City when there were two or three games left in League One and we won, which sort of clinched promotion for us, and I set up the second goal for Enoch Showunmi at the time. Nice game.

"It would be right up there in my career and I would say it's probably the hardest thing I would have done if we survive. I have been to a Championship play-off final and lost, I have been promoted from League One, but if we were to avoid the drop this year I think it would be right up there as my best achievement. If we win this weekend and if the results go our way then it goes to the final week and there will be a few other teams that will be very nervous. I think there are a few now that haven't won for a while. We were in that rut and it is hard to start winning games once you have lost and lost and lost.

"It was nice to send the fans home happy on Saturday having got three points and scored a few goals as well. We have played well recently apart from 15 minutes at Rochdale, but that was some 15 minutes wasn't it? It's made it very difficult, but there's still a chance. We are still mathematically in it and we have got a good bit of form going, apart from for 15 minutes out of the 270. When we weren't winning the other teams around us were keeping us in touch with them by not winning.

"I look back now and it's so frustrating. Even if we had picked up points here and there we would be well safe. But we have still got a chance. The next two games are going to be tough. Sheffield United will be going for automatic promotion in the last game, and Carlisle are going for the play-offs. You want to be playing teams in mid-table, or who are safe with nothing to play for. But it makes them better games and we have got something to play for as well. You say they have got something to play for but we have got something to play for."
