Chris Hutchings
Saddlers manager Chris Hutchings spoke to BBC Radio West Midlands and the Walsall Express and Star ahead of his side's League One match against Carlisle at the Banks's Stadium tomorrow, Hutchings saying that United's players have started to believe in themselves :

" Greg (Abbott) has done a great job up there and he has changed it around, and he did reasonably well last year with getting them to a cup final against Southampton, so all credit to them. He has got some good players, they have started to believe, they had started the season well so they believe in themselves and we are going to meet it head on, and that is what we will be doing.

" We've got to start getting results now so let's start tomorrow. We had a good result on Tuesday, we got a clean sheet and got through to the next round. Carlisle are a good side, no doubt about it, but we can perform and in some of the games we should have got more. You need a bit of luck as well, against Southampton last week you can arguably say Carlisle scored against the run of play but they scored at the right time.

" Of course our home fans are important, we are disappointed with the way things have gone and I understand they are disappointed with the way things have gone. But, at the same time we need them to get behind us. We are doing everything we can and we can look forward to the game. So, it is important for them to get behind us and it is something we hope that they do do.

" I am as disappointed as the fans are, we want to do well, Martin (O'Connor) is the same, Jon Whitney is the same, David Hamilton, Dean Smith, everybody connected with the football club, the backroom staff and all the staff at the ground. We want to be successful and we are striving to do it, we are trying to get people in, whether it be loans etc. etc.

" But, sometimes you get knock-backs and people think that we should get him in or him in but it doesn't happen like that. People have to understand that, that we are working tirelessly behind the scenes to try to do the right things. Then it is up to the players to go out on the pitch and do the right things. "

" We are backed into a corner at the minute and we have got to roll our sleeves up even higher. Martin and myself are going to come out fighting and we will take anyone on and we will meet them head on. So, we are looking forward to the challenge and it is something the players have to, and we will get out of it.

" It's the situation we're in and we have to get through it. You have to have mental strength to go out and play in front of people, otherwise what's the point of going out there? Some of the players have played in front of big crowds and they know what to expect and they've got to deliver.

" Confidence is a big thing in any sport and it does affect you at times. Goals dictate games and we have to make sure that we are right at both ends of the field. We have to defend well when we need to and remain concentrated and focussed to take what chances come our way.

" People tend to forget that we did finish tenth last season and it is the highest we have finished for six years, so that was a big plus. We have lost one or two players and we have had a turnaround of players and we have got to work hard at it.

" We know that we feel that we have got good players in here, the backroom staff feel that. We need a little bit of luck, but we have got to work at that, nobody gives it to you and you have got to work hard and roll your sleeves up and that is what we are trying to do. "
