City manager Stuart McCall spoke to BBC Radio Leeds ahead of his side's Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Section Semi-Final tie against Carlisle at Brunton Park this evening, McCall hoping his players can continue their useful away form this season :

" It is a big game for the lads in the side, that goes for the experienced ones as much as the young ones, you have got a sniff of playing at Wembley and that is what they have got to believe in. It is a tough tie against a side in a division above us away from home, but I think this season our away form, if you look at it we have picked up more points away from home and scored more goals away from home than we have at home.

" Naturally for the club, financially if we could make it to a final, I am sure Julian (Rhodes) and Mark (Lawn) would like it to be Leeds if that was the case, if we could do it. Because home and away ties would give us much needed income, we are going to make it tough for Carlisle and I am sure Accrington will make it tough for Leeds.

" They have had a fantastic run recently and won at Notts County at the weekend, so I am sure both games will be competitive and looked forward to by all four teams. But it is an opportunity to get to a final and that is how we are going to look at it, and I am sure Carlisle are looking at it the same.

" With Greg (Abbott) we obviously had the pre-season game but I am really pleased for him, he has picked up a few results recently which, they were hanging around near the bottom the end of the table. But they have picked up some good results and some good points so he will be really pleased. "

" I know from their point of view finances are a big thing as well so they will want to go as far as they can and obviously get to a final. But they have got (Graham) Kavanagh, again the experienced player, he showed down here what a very good player he is and we have got to make sure we get on top of him in the game.

" (Vincent) Pericard I know a lot about from his days at Sheffield United again, ex-Premier League striker, so they have got in areas of the park key players. But if we can go and give a performance like we have done away from home many times this season then we are confident that we can upset the odds and come back with a win, or even go to penalties and we will take it from there.

" Go and have a go, we came through a tough tie at Rochdale and then we had Notts County and Port Vale at home, both exciting and entertaining games. But we are going to go and have a go at it definitely. If we can get to penalties then we will have put on a good show so if we can get there then great, we have done well on penalty kicks, two out of two, so it would be nice if that was the case and we could make it three out of three.

" We take a lot of positives from the performance on Saturday, although the result wasn't what we wanted. Especially in the second half, we showed a lot of spirit, energy and endeavour and were undone by a fantastic piece of skill and execution. We know we are underdogs and we're going to have to be at our best but the lads are in a positive mood despite the result on Saturday. It's a game everyone is looking forward to."
