Owls boss Alan Irvine spoke to his club's official website and the Sheffield Star ahead of his side's top of the table clash against Carlisle at Hillsborough tomorrow, Irvine hoping the Owls get back on track after losing 1-0 at Brentford last Sunday :

" I think it's important that you bounce back. It's important that if you are going to be a good team and have a good season, that you're able to respond to disappointments. The Brentford result was undoubtedly a disappointment and we will hopefully respond in the right way against Carlisle.

" It's a good game, there's no question about that. Carlisle are unbeaten in the league so far and have been playing very well. I have watched their last couple of games and they are a good side. They pass the ball well, they play with a different system - a diamond system - and they understand how to play that system.

" Frank (Simek) is a smashing lad who was a pleasure to work with and a very good professional. I'm sure our supporters will be very kind to him. I felt we needed to make some major changes over the summer. We had an opportunity here that you quite often don't get as a manager.

" A lot of players were out of contract and I just felt that we needed a different dressing room when we started back on the 1st of July. None of the outfield players who were out of contract were offered new deals and obviously, Frank was one of them. From what I've seen and what I've heard, since he's been at Carlisle, he's done very well for them and I wish him the very best of luck for the future.

" It has been a pretty normal week. The threat of administration has not had an affect on training or the mood around the place, everything has been normal. We don't know too much about what's going on and we are not too involved in those things so we will carry on doing our jobs and hope that everything is okay.

" It would be awful if there was a points deduction; it is very difficult winning points so we don't want to give them away cheaply. But players are resilient and are used to changes and things going wrong so if that was to happen I'm sure we would come out the other end having dealt with it. They are perfectly focused on football and they know we are looking for a response from last week's disappointing result.

" The Manager of the Month award is recognition of the hard work which a lot of people have done. There were a lot of people who contributed to the results we have got from the players to the backroom staff. It is the effort of lots of people and I'm delighted that we have got it because it means that we have had a good month. I hope that we are in contention every month for the award because if we are then we will have had a good season. "
