Saints attacking midfielder Adam Lallana spoke to his club's official website ahead of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy Final between Carlisle and Southampton at Wembley on Sunday afternoon, England under-21 international Lallana hoping to thrive on his nervous energy in the game :

"It's something that I like to think you thrive upon, you get the goosebumps and the butterflies which I think is a good thing, so I'm really looking forward to stepping out on to the pitch and getting the butterflies going as the game begins.

"You want tests as a professional footballer because you don't want to play in front of the same level of crowds week in, week out, you want to make it to the highest level, and to get there you've got to play in front of these crowds so to get a little taster for it is something that as a team we're going to relish.

"It's going to be a big day on Sunday obviously for me, I've got my family and friends coming down together, some from Ireland and others from my hometown St Albans, and they're all going to make a day of it by staying on afterwards so to bring home the trophy afterwards would be the icing on the cake.

"It's massive. It's given something back to the fans because I mean 44,000 supporters speaks for itself. We had a bad season last year but the fans stayed with us and kept coming to home games and brilliantly away too, so a day out like this is just fantastic, so it does feel like we're giving a bit back and hopefully it's not the biggest of the season.

"We've still got nine massive league games left that if we win then anything is possible, so it's exciting times. Once Sunday is out of the way, we've got an even harder game Brighton away on the Thursday which is going to be equally massive.

"It would be brilliant to win on Sunday in front of the 44,000 Saints fans that are there because when you think about the situation the club was in last year, people were talking about liquidation and if that had happened you lose your job so you've got to keep your options open, but I'm really glad that I'm still a Southampton player.

"We've got money behind us and bought new players in, we've got a high quality manager, the fans are coming back now and we're winning football matches and when you're doing that the punters will come. So if we win on Sunday we can continue to move on upwards like we have been doing all season."
