Rotherham have made two new signings, boss Alan Knill snapping up 25-year old winger Richie Partridge on a two-year deal from neighbours Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City defender Scott Wiseman, 20, on a six-month loan deal with a view to an extension. Ex-Liverpool trainee Partridge played for Ireland under-21s earlier in his career while Wiseman has played for the England under-20 side. Meanwhile left-back Phil Gilchrist, who was released by Rotherham United at the end of last season, has rejoined Conference side Oxford United, the 32-year-old previously having started over 200 games for the U's before leaving seven years ago to join Leicester City.

Welsh international winger Paul Parry is being linked with a move from Cardiff City to Yeovil Town. The 25-year old left-sided flyer has struggled with injuries since moving to the Bluebirds from Hereford United two and a half years ago and a move to Huish Park could be seen as a fresh start for the player and both clubs. New Glovers boss Russell Slade has also invited 26-year old forward Lee Morris to train with the Somerset club, Morris looking to make a comeback after being out of the game since leaving Leicester City in April, having not played a first-team game for the Foxes since December 2004 due to a severe knee injury. Meanwhile ex-Yeovil keeper Chris Weale, who has rejoined his old boss Gary Johnson at Bristol City, has a clause written into his contract with the Ashton Gate club which will see his 12-month deal extended to two years once he has played just ten games next season.

Doncaster midfielder Simon Marples has dropped down a league to join Chester City on a two-year contract, the 30-year old moving on from Rovers after being with the Belle Vue club since 1999. Another player looking likely to make the same journey is Ricky Ravenhill after Doncaster accepted an undisclosed bid from City for the 25-year old one-time Barnsley midfielder. Staying in Yorkshire, Huddersfield Town are set to sign striker Luke Beckett from Sheffield United, the two clubs having agreed on an undisclosed fee for the experienced 29-year-old frontman, who will sign a three-year deal at the Galpharm Stadium on Monday subject to passing a medical. Ex-Huddersfield goalkeeper Phil Senior, 23, who was released by the club at the end of last season, has joined Conference outfit Northwich Victoria, Senior penning a one-year deal with the Wincham Park outfit.

Clint Easton has stepped up a league by joining Gillingham from Wycombe Wanderers, the 28-year-old midfielder having signed a one-year deal at Priestfield with the option of a further year if he impresses with the Kent club. Moving up a tier though is Brentford's Republic of Ireland under-21 midfielder Jay Tabb who has joined Championship outfit Coventry City. The 22-year old has signed a three-year contract at the Ricoh Arena and becomes boss Micky Adams' third signing in as many days, Adams having already snapped up goalkeeper Andy Marshall and midfielder Colin Cameron. Not going anywhere however is Brighton glovesman Michael Kuipers, the Dutchman having apologised to Seagulls boss Mark McGhee after the two had a falling out in January when Kuipers was dropped from the Albion starting eleven.

Swansea City have rejected a £100,000 bid for the Milton Keynes Dons from French goalkeeper Willy Gueret, the Swans were poised to sign Welsh international Jason Brown this week, but the former Gillingham keeper joined Blackburn Rovers at the 11th hour, hence the need for City to hang on to Gueret. Swansea are also still interested in signing Wycombe Wanderers captain Roger Johnson despite having an initial bid of £100,000 turned down at the beginning of June. City are believed to face competition for Johnson's signature from Welsh rivals Cardiff as well, with the Chairboys asking price now around the £200,000 mark. Swans chairman Huw Jenkins believing his club have become a victim of their own success as other sides hike prices of potential transfer targets due to Swansea's bumper crowds in their new Liberty Stadium last season.

Bournemouth will have three prospective signings on trial this week as Cherries boss Sean O'Driscoll looks to further strenghten his young squad. Ex-Everton striker Paul Hopkins, 19, who had a spell on loan at Darlington last season, Ipswich defender Jack Haverson and left-back Craig Tanner from Ryman Division One South side Tooting and Mitcham all hoping to impress in their time at the Fitness First stadium. Luton striker Luke Maitland will also link up with the Cherries for training on 10 July as he looks to earn a contract with the Dorset club. Meanwhile one-time Bradford City loan target Adam Johnson has signed a bumper four-year contract with his parent club Middlesbrough. New boss at the Riverside, Gareth Southgate, wants to have a good look at all his new charges in pre-season training and will not be letting anyone go out on loan until after pre-season training has ended.

Basque striker Juan Ugarte could make a move back to Wrexham after being released by Crewe at the end of last season, Ugarte having only moved to Gresty Road at the end of the 2004-05 campaign. The Spaniard was in prolific form for Wrexham in his first spell at the Racecourse Ground and Red Dragons boss Denis Smith will be keen to re-sign Ugarte despite the 25-year old having some knee injury problems recently. Ex-Brentford midfielder Eddie Hutchinson can take his pick of the divisions next year after Barnsley, Port Vale, Huddersfield and Notts County all showed interest in the 24-year old. Hutchinson was released by the Bees at the end of last season, but he is reportedly keen to stay in the London area as his girlfriend is due to give birth very soon.

Swindon are keen to sign midfielder Curtis Weston on a one-year contract, Weston having been released by Millwall at the end of last season. The 19-year old would be linking back up with new Robins boss Dennis Wise if he moved to the County Ground, Wise having made Weston the youngest ever FA Cup final player - aged 17 years 119 days when he was in charge on a player-manager basis at the New Den in 2004. Conference outfit York City have taken former Scunthorpe goalkeeper Tom Evans on trial, the 29-year-old having been released by the Iron in May after a nine-year spell at Glanford Park. Evans will be playing in pre-season friendlies for the Minstermen, and will be looking to join ex-Carlisle striker Craig Farrell and midfield man Steve Bowey in earning a playing contract from City boss Billy McEwan.
