Ronnie Moore has left his post as manager of the Latics, the Boundary Park board appointing ex-Leeds midfielder John Sheridan as his immediate successor. Moore, who was boss at Rotherham for eight years, joined up with Oldham in March 2005 when he replaced the sacked Brian Talbot, and guided Athletic to within six points of the play-offs this season after the club flirted with relegation under the stewardship of Talbot in the previous campaign.

Managing director Simon Corney has cited financial reasons for Moore's departure claiming that tight budgets at the club, and poor season ticket sales, have meant that the Latics needed a name in charge that the supporters would take to. Sheridan has been chosen as that man after a distuingished career at the top level which saw him end his career at Boundary Park in 2004. The one-time Sheffield Wednesday man making over 150 appearances for the side in a six-year playing spell which also saw him take the managerial reins on a caretaker basis in early 2004 after the departure of the then manager Iain Dowie, until the appointment of Talbot.

Bournemouth boss Sean O'Driscoll has snapped up two youngster as the Cherries look to prepare for next season. Making the long journey down to the South coast are 20-year old midfielder Tareq Khalil and 19-year old striker Conal Platt, both on one-year deals. Khalil was released this summer by Cardiff City while Republic of Ireland youth international Platt had been let go by Premership giants Liverpool. Scunthorpe have signed out-of-contract Dave Mulligan, the New Zealand international full-back having featured for Doncaster Rovers last season. Iron manager Brian Laws has been on the lookout for some new defenders and the signing of Mulligan, who has eight caps for the New Zealand All Whites, on a two-year contract, is a useful acquisition for the Glanford Park club.

In good news and bad news for Yeovil, captain Terry Skiverton has agreed terms on a one-year contract extension, taking him up to the summer of 2008 with the Huish Park club. Meanwhile their physiotherapist Glen Schmidt will leave the Glovers this summer to rejoin his old Yeovil boss at Ashton Gate, Bristol City manager Gary Johnson describing Schmidt as his best signing yet for the Robins. Crewe have lost experienced midfielder Kenny Lunt to Sheffield Wednesday, Lunt having turned down a new contract with the Gresty Road club after making over 400 appearances in a ten-year stay with the Alex'. The 27-year old made his debut for the Railwaymen way back in the 1997-98 season and moves to Hillsborough on a three-year contract.

Gillingham goalkeeper Jason Brown now looks likely to leave the Kent club this summer after failing to agree terms on a new contract at the Priestfield Stadium, 24-year old Brown having been with the Gills for five years since leaving Charlton Athletic. In other news Gillingham have also pulled their reserve side out of the Combination League for next season and will instead play friendlies against local non-league sides. Swansea boss Kenny Jackett has confirmed that left-winger Kevin McLeod has been taken off the Swans transfer list, McLeod having been on it since March after breaking a club curfew, the two men seemingly having settled their differences. New Nottingham Forest boss Colin Calderwood has brought David Kerslake with him from Northampton Town, Kerslake was reverse team manager for the Cobblers and rejoins Calderwood as part of the backroom staff at the City Ground.
