Youth Team League Weekend Update

Last updated : 09 September 2011 By Thetashkentterror

With two wins out of two, and yet to concede a goal, Burnley sit at the top of the table following their narrow 1-0 home win over Accrington Stanley. Oldham in second were the odd team out this week and so Bury are third following their 4-1 victory at home to Blackpool. Next in the table come Preston with a 4-1 home win over Morecambe while Tranmere complete the top five despite losing 2-0 away to Macclesfield.

Further down the league Walsall played their first match of the season and won 3-1 at Port Vale while Shrewsbury and Stockport picked up 2-0 and 1-0 wins at home to Wigan and Wrexham respectively. As for Carlisle, well it was an excellent weekend for the young Blues as they thrashed last season's title winners Rochdale 5-0 at home, the United goals coming from Mark Beck 2, Will James, Alex Salmon and Dave Symington, with the lads at home again next week in a tough looking fixture against Preston in an 11am kick-off at Creighton Rugby Club.
