The Bolton-born youngster getting a taste of first-team life a fortnight ago as an unused substitute in the heavily delayed FA Cup replay at Grays, Aldred commenting to BBC Radio Cumbria on the awarding of his professional contract until the summer of 2010 :

" My professional contract is what I have been working for really since I walked through the door as a 16-year old on the 1st of June two years ago. I'm delighted to have been offered a contract, I am just delighted, it is what I have been looking to achieve and I have done it.

" I think that now you are on your own, when you come in you are a youth team player and you are part of a team, you have got to shine and you have got to get your contract. I have done that now and now that I am on my own I have got to go on and achieve things and hopefully get into the first team and get a new contract, on to bigger and better things. "

Jonny Blake
Meanwhile 17-year old Jonny Blake, who has been with the club since the age of nine, has signed a professional contract of the same length. The Lancaster-born central midfielder, who has also featured numerous times at right-back in the youth and reserve teams, having better luck than his left-back brother Matthew who was a little unlucky to be released in the summer of 2007.

Blake was also an unused substitute at Grays, as well as making the bench for the league match at Swindon last Saturday where he was the defensive cover in the absence of Danny Livesey. Jonny commenting to BBC Radio Cumbria on signing his professional deal :

" It was brilliant signing my contract, I was smiling all the way through that. They were talking seriously and I couldn't stop smiling. My Mum and Dad, I could see that my Mum was nearly in tears, they were talking about money and I was just so glad that I wanted to sign it now. When I went to sign it there were so many signatures doing all that, but it is brilliant. Getting it this early as well, I wanted it early and I got it, I was so pleased.

" I remember getting signed on at under-9s, they just split two groups of us and my group all got signed. It was quality, I can remember my Mum running up to me and cuddling me. It was good though, there were times that I could have gone but I knew that Carlisle being close, it is a good club and it was really good. I can remember the Irish times, I was there as well, they were really good. "
