Two-goal Danny Carlton
Both sides took to the field looking for the first win of their second-string campaign but neither would end up finding it in a tight game at the Racecourse Ground this afternoon. Spaniard Ugarte opened the scoring for the Welshmen in the 20th minute when he side-footed home a low cross from Trinidadian Josh Johnson past Carlisle keeper Adam Bradley.

Marc Williams and Matt Crowell had further off target efforts for the Red Dragons before United levelled matters with 36 minutes on the clock. Danny Carlton, who had missed a good opportunity shortly before, racing onto a Luke Joyce through ball before slotting the ball into the back of the net beyond Wrexham glovesman Michael Jones.

Bradley made some good stops after the break between the Carlisle sticks before the Blues took the lead after 70 minutes. A ball down the middle seeing Joyce head possession into the path of Carlton, the ex-Morecambe man doing the honours to bag his second goal of the game as he shot home from close range at the back-stick.

Marc Williams then headed a Crowell cross narrowly wide of the Cumbrians goal before the Welshmen were awarded a debatable penalty in the 76th minute. Johnson crashing to the ground in the Carlisle box after minimal contact on him by youth team right-back Matthew Brown and French trialist Martin Ekani. Ugarte stepping up to the plate as he stuck the spot-kick away for his brace to leave the final score at 2-2.
