One Keeper Leaves Carlisle United

Taff has been a perennial substitute at Brunton Park over the last two seasons since signing from Grimsby on a free transfer in the summer of 2005. Also with his two-year contract running out at the end of the current campaign we could have seen the last of the Ogwr-born keeper in Cumbria as the move to the Welsh borders is with a view to a permanent switch in the summer.

The 29-year old has only made 14 starts for the Blues, having been an understudy to regular number one Keiren Westwood on a mammoth 77 occasions. Williams only having played three games for Carlisle this season, those being the two Carling Cup ties against Bradford and Charlton, and the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Accrington.

Glovesman Williams did spend a loan spell at Bury in January 2006 as he looked for more first-team matches and this move to the Racecourse Ground helps out a Wrexham side who have had goalkeeping traumas all season. The Red Dragons already having used four custodians this campaign with current number one Michael Ingham looking to be sidelined for a few weeks with a hamstring injury picked up in a 2-1 defeat at MK Dons last weekend.

Williams will certainly be under pressure to help out a Wrexham outfit who are currently teetering on the brink of relegation into the Nationwide Conference as they sit three points away from safety. Survival could still be in the hands of the Red Dragons though as they have yet to play all three of the other four bottom sides, the last game of the season being a potentially huge match at home to third-bottom Boston.
