Beharall
Beherall ended his 11 month spell in Cumbria this afternoon as he departed Carlisle to get back to the Manchester area to iron out some personal difficulties.

The one-time Oldham man signed up with the Blues in February 2005 and was a key cog in the wheel that saw United promoted back into the Football League following their play-off final success.

His contract was up at the end of the season, and with Paul Arnison now a clear first-choice at right-back, and Kevin Gray, Danny Livesey and Simon Grand ahead of him in the queue for a centre-half berth it seems unlikely that the Newcastle born defender would have remained at Brunton Park for the 2006-07 campaign anyway. Releasing Beharall now also means that he has become a free agent in the January transfer window so he would be able to sign up for another club this season if the chance arose.

In total, Beharall made 26 starting appearances for United, with two more as a substitute, scoring one goal in the process in a 2-1 win at Farnborough last season. His confidence seems to have totally disappeared recently, and on two occasions in which he has started a game this campaign, in Mansfield at home and Macclesfield away, he has been replaced on the pitch after 56 minutes and at half-time respectively.

Beharall had a complete nightmare in both those games with a lot of his passes forward slicing off the side of his right boot and out for an opposition throw-in. Those performances ceratinly didn't put any pressure on Arnison for the starting berth and many Blues fans will not be overly traumatised to see him leave. He always put in 100% though, be it for the first-team or the reserves, and leaves the club with our best wishes for the future.

Footnotes - Beharall played as a trialist for Stockport County in their Manchester Senior Cup tie with Manchester City on the 7th of February 2006. Ex-Blues Jamie McClen and Mark Boyd also featured as trialists for the Hatters in the 3-0 defeat. Beharall singed a contract with Stockport until the end of the 2005-06 season on Thursday the 9th of February 2006.
