Swansea boss Roberto Martinez
City manager Roberto Martinez spoke to BBC Radio Wales about his side's 2-1 win against Carlisle at the Liberty Stadium last night, Martinez talking about the part the fans played in the Swans coming back from behind to claim all three points :

" It was a very pleasing performance and I thought that the first-half is as good as we have played this season. I do believe that in football you always get the rewards in the long-term, probably in the short-term you don't. Today it took a long 90 minutes to get those rewards but the boys never lost their way, they always kept believing and kept playing the way that they need to. That was very, very pleasing, especially when you have got the fans who have got behind us and they really made a difference on the pitch tonight.

" When you have got a talented squad I think that you can play a passing game, playing football, just playing pretty football takes you nowhere. Obviously though we are playing attractive football, maybe with a certain tempo and a certain determination. What you need then on top is having that winning mentality and that focus on getting results. It couldn't get any worse than going 1-0 down against an experienced side like Carlisle as they started well and it was a proper challenge for the players. As good as playing good football you need to have all the ingredients and that is a very pleasing thing out of this game.

" You get that in football, I think the problem is that when you don't create chances it's hard to get two goals in two minutes. I think we created enough chances to probably win the game in the first-half but you don't hit the back of the net. Goals are like that, they come in little lots if you want but they are always welcome. Above anything the reaction, Swansea City, we have got huge expectations and sometimes you can get frustrated, today was a clear example.

" Everything went against us, always playing the right way when it went against us and the fans never got way, way quiet. They never went one single bit negative, they just supported, they kept believing in the players and they can see that chemistry. I can guarantee you that the players gave every single effort, the fans hopefully appreciate that in the long-term as well.

" I wouldn't say that today was a starting point, I'd say that the starting point was after the first league game. I think that we accumulated many, many positives in our first defeat and you can get a lot of positives today. We are still growing, we are still improving, we must get better and we will get better but I think that the game tonight is a clear example of what we are as a football club.

" The fans need to realise the huge part they played in the players minds today and that will make us a very, very strong side for the future. It is a tough division to get out of but we are ready for it. I think that we have got a very strong squad and very determined characters that are hungry for success. It's going to be hard but we are going to enjoy it. "
