Blues keeper Keiren Westwood spoke to the Liverpool Daily Post about the match against Tranmere tomorrow night, Westwood talking about the entertaining 11-10 penalty shoot-out victory for United in the LDV Vans Trophy at Prenton Park last season :

"It was great to be involved in that night. The game itself was end-to-end and I don't know how it finished 0-0. Then when it came to penalties, the manager said 'Who wants one?', but nobody put their hand up. So I said I would have one. And at one stage I was down to go third or fourth. I ended up going seventh.

"Everyone kept scoring and I then remember looking up to seeing Chris Lumsdon saying, 'It's you, it's you'. I've got a decent strike on me and I managed to put it away. It kept going and going with everyone scoring until their keeper missed. I felt sorry for him - but not for long, because it meant we could go through. I don't think I'll be taking a pen tomorrow though. We've got a few lads wanting to take them so I'm happy to let them have them!

"After tomorrow night it will be a lot clearer if we are going to be there or thereabouts. To be even thinking about the play-offs is a fantastic achievement for us. Other teams might have expected us to struggle, like the other teams that got promoted with us, but we had other ideas. We've shown we are a team to be reckoned with."
