United youth team midfielder Jonny Blake spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey about signing his 18-month professional contract with the club on Wednesday night, Blake talking about being with the club since the age of nine :

" I think that there was too much pressure on tonight, everyone expected so much from us. We usually play at a lower level than they (Crewe) play and I think that when they came out with their passing and stuff which is a bit higher level, we didn't cope with it well. We tried to change the tactics and that didn't work either, so we were stuck and we couldn't do any creative movement as we were always chasing after them. So we got a bit tired and eventually we started to go off a bit.

" It was brilliant signing my contract, I was smiling all the way through that. They were talking seriously and I couldn't stop smiling. My Mum and Dad, I could see that my Mum was nearly in tears, they were talking about money and I was just so glad that I wanted to sign it now. When I went to sign it there were so many signatures doing all that, but it is brilliant. Getting it this early as well, I wanted it early and I got it, I was so pleased.

" I remember getting signed on at under-9s, they just split two groups of us and my group all got signed. It was quality, I can remember my Mum running up to me and cuddling me. It was good though, there were times that I could have gone but I knew that Carlisle being close, it is a good club and it was really good. I can remember the Irish times, I was there as well, they were really good.

" I had some good coaches and some bad coaches but when I got through from the under-16s I went to the youth team . That was amazing, just going on the FA Youth Cup stuff and I knew that this would be the place that I would want to progress my career. I have to thank him (Eric Kinder), he did a lot for me to be honest. He has made me play quicker, when I first came I was a back-up at right-back but now I am playing centre-midfield so he changed it all, which is really good for me, I thank him.

" The hard work does start now, I have been training with the professionals a lot more now and it is just that step up. Every day you have to put it in, the youth team is lower and you can rest off a bit but in the first team every training session is all out. So I have to keep going, it just starts now.

" I loved going on the first team trips, it came so quickly and getting on the bench for Swindon was brilliant. Just hearing Den (Dennis Booth) and what he says on the sidelines, you learn so much off Dennis, just that. I can remember that Murph (Peter Murphy) went down for five minutes, 20 minutes into the game, I was running up and I was getting nervous I can remember, but it is all good, it is all great stuff.

" I want to be one of those who looks to the crowd and tries to get everyone going. Tonight though I was so disappointed, I had my head down when we came off. Everyone was cheering and saying well done and stuff but my jumper was over my head and I just wanted to get in straight away. I just want to keep going now, keep doing what I am doing and hopefully I can go higher. Start at Carlisle though and get Carlisle, they can go into the Championship, maybe this year or maybe next year but we will do it. "
