Greg Abbott
United first team coach Greg Abbott spoke to BBC Radio Cumbria's Derek Lacey on Monday evening as he gave his thoughts on the excellent 3-1 win at home to Bournemouth today, Abbott talking about the good way that all the Carlisle players are performing at the moment :

" It's a win, it's another three points, I know that teams around us have won but it doesn't really matter because all we can do is win the games we have got left and hope that one of the teams above slips up. We can do no more than we have done in our last four games, that's four on the spin. They'll be looking over their shoulders now will teams, whereas before there was a seven or eight point gap, it's down to four points and they'll be panicking a little bit.

" We've got nothing to panic about have we, we just keep plodding along picking up points and winning games, and hopefully somebody slips up. Then we might start to get a little bit nervy, but at the minute we're enjoying ourselves aren't we.

" We were patchy, we played some good stuff in spells, we got a little bit nervy when we went 2-0 up, and allowed them a little bit too much space in the early part of the second-half. We battled away to get back in it, people like Kevin Gall working back like he did raises the players and raises the crowd, and it gives everybody a bit of a lift. Neale McDermott comes off the bench who's been a little bit unhappy about not getting a run in the team and not getting a start. He comes on and scores a wonderful goal, and at the end of it you look at it being 3-1 and it's a nice performance, or a nice result anyway.

" To be fair as the second game in three days after the run we've been on, and the amount of work we've had, we're not going to be critical of the players at this stage. We know where we want to be and we know the standards we are trying to set but today I think is a reflection on the result rather than the overall performance. "

" He (Johann Smith) got us off to a fantastic start, we are trying to get him to keep the game simple and then he actually played the game too simple at times, and we wanted him to get the ball and run at people. When you've a squad the size of ours and you've got young players coming in, and injuries and suspensions, and one thing and another. Well, to get another result today, against a form team today by the way Bournemouth, everyone needs to not forget that - they are a form side Bournemouth who have come off the back of some really good results.

" Everybody comes in and gives everything they have got and that's all you can ask for. There will be different levels of performance but everybody that has come in has done well. Neale (McDermott) has come off the bench who might be feeling a little bit down with himself because he hasn't had a start. He comes off and plays like that and scores a goal, Luke Joyce has come into the team and done fantastic, Lummy (Chris Lumsdon) has been in and out and has come back today and worked his socks off.

" Brilliant, that's all you can say to that, and that is a squad then that has a chance, that has a genuine chance of doing something. You want players to make the managers job a nightmare in terms of performances on the pitch, if they all come in and play like that then he has got a headache hasn't he. Zigor (Aranalde) is sitting there thinking that he has been terrific all season, we've won again and he's out of the team, is he panicking? It would be nice if he is panicking because it means that people have come in and done really well around that, that's all we can ask for.

" They are a joy to work with, we love coming in every day. Yesterday when we did the warm-down the humour was fantastic, but the appetite to do the job right was fantastic. They carried that over to today, the warm-up was terrific, and I think you can see by the effort that they put in that the last ten minutes that I think most of our players were out on their feet. Joe Garner especially was literally out on his feet, Kevin Gall said 'how I have got through that?', we have though. Ask the Bournemouth players how they have got through it because they have got nothing for this. "

" I just expect them to play two games in three days easy, it was not too bad from the dugout, I didn't feel that tired, I was quite okay (jokes). Looking at some of the boys though, Kevin Gray has not played for a while, he did smashing when he came on on Saturday. I thought he was very forceful and very dominant and when things drop a little bit he's growling at everybody and picking people up. Without singling too many out though, I've singled the whole eleven out near enough. I think as a group they were workmanlike, not the best fluent performance maybe but a fantastic work-ethic and desire to keep the ball rolling forward.

" I think it's been enjoyable away from home hasn't it to see those people that have travelled. I think we've had over a thousand near enough every game away from home. To see them sing and shout and clap like they did at Tranmere and at Port Vale it's fantastic. When they travel so far every week, and for the early part of the season they had nothing to cheer about did they. Now they are on a bit of a roll though and you never know, we might get massive support down there at Rotherham.

" If we can turn them over, without being stupid, we know we are in with a chance now, it's a genuine chance and we've got to keep the players thinking positive without relaxing and taking their foot off the gas. I know he (Karl Hawley) has stepped up training, I know he's doing a little bit more and I know he's running. I know that he's as frustrated as anything, he wants to get involved, if there is any chance he can be then he will be. I think he is going to get a ball out and do some kicking next week so if we all keep our fingers crossed.

" We'll lose Danny (Graham) which will be a blow because he has been terrific in terms of his goals, but that will be tempered by the fact that if we get Karl back then I think that will give everybody a lift. It's the story isn't it that he's going to come in in the last few games and give us the goals that are going to take us that extra little bit hopefully. Danny has been brilliant as well, but it'll be a great shout for Karl if he can do it but I don't know. "
