Hatters manager Jim Gannon spoke to the official Stockport website about his side's 3-0 Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area Quarter-Final win against Carlisle at Brunton Park last night, Gannon talking about changing tactics during the match :

"I've been hard on the players, both privately and publicly over the last six or seven weeks but there was a lot to be pleased about tonight. Make no mistake Carlisle are a very good side and you can see why they are top of the league.

"But there were three really pleasing aspects about tonight. One is we asked players to play out of position. They've not moaned, they got on with it and did the best they can in those positions, and excelled in some of those positions.

"We changed the system three times during the game and it worked really well. The lads understand the method in my madness and get on without complaining and do their jobs.

"But the most important thing was when they got the second goal the confidence grew and they showed the assuredness and confidence on the ball that I want them to.

"But I just can't give them this. It's the results and performances that can give them that. Great credit to everyone in the changing room for what we've done tonight."
